Corporate Accounting Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a corporate accounting manager in New York?
Most corporate accounting manager roles in New York require a CPA license issued or recognized by the New York State Board of Public Accountancy, along with a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Candidates typically progress from staff accountant to senior accountant before stepping into a manager role, often after several years in public accounting at a mid-size or large firm. A master's degree or MBA can strengthen a candidacy at larger employers.
Which companies hire corporate accounting managers in New York?
Employers hiring corporate accounting managers in New York right now include Newbury Franklin Industrials, GCL, and J.Crew, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York's density of financial services headquarters, media companies, and large real estate firms means a particularly wide range of industries post these roles year-round.
Which New York cities have the most corporate accounting manager jobs?
New York, Buffalo, and Menands are the New York cities with the most corporate accounting manager openings. New York City drives the large majority of demand given its concentration of corporate headquarters across finance, media, and professional services, while Westchester County and Long Island openings tend to come from regional subsidiaries and mid-size companies that maintain back-office accounting functions outside Manhattan.
Are there remote corporate accounting manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many finance roles. About 67% of corporate accounting manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves systems-based reporting, consolidations, and review rather than on-site operations. Financial reporting, technical accounting, and intercompany reconciliation tasks are the most commonly offered in remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a corporate accounting manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is entering through a staff or senior accountant role at a New York public accounting firm or a large corporate finance department, then building toward a manager title over several years. Large New York employers in financial services and professional services regularly hire new graduates into rotational finance programs that build the general ledger and reporting skills managers need. Sitting for the CPA exam early and gaining exposure to month-end close processes in any industry gives candidates a meaningful edge.
