Strategic Finance Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a strategic finance manager in New York?
Most strategic finance managers in New York follow a path starting with a finance, accounting, or economics degree, followed by several years in FP&A, investment banking, or management consulting. New York does not require a state license for this role, but a CFA or CPA credential carries significant weight with employers here. The city's density of financial services firms means candidates who have worked inside a major bank, private equity firm, or large corporate finance function are particularly competitive.
Which companies hire strategic finance managers in New York?
Employers hiring strategic finance managers in New York right now include Uber, Oscar Health, and Ramp, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York's concentration of financial services headquarters, media companies, and technology firms means the role appears across a wider range of industries here than in most other states.
Which New York cities have the most strategic finance manager jobs?
New York, Purchase, and Albany have the most strategic finance manager openings in New York. New York City dominates because it is home to the headquarters of major banks, asset managers, and Fortune 500 corporate finance functions, while White Plains and other Westchester locations reflect the regional offices and holding companies that maintain New York-area finance teams outside Manhattan.
Are there remote strategic finance manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. Strategic finance is an analytical and advisory function that translates well to remote work, since the core output is modeling, reporting, and stakeholder communication rather than physical presence. About 87% of strategic finance manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026. Business partnering and FP&A roles tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while roles with heavy executive interaction often require at least a hybrid schedule.
How can I get hired as a strategic finance manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a financial analyst or FP&A analyst role at a large New York employer, with firms like Citigroup, American Express, and Pfizer running structured analyst programs that develop candidates for senior finance positions. Transitioning from a Big Four audit or advisory role into a corporate FP&A associate position is another well-worn route in the New York market. Earning a CFA Level I or completing an MBA at a New York-area school like Columbia, NYU Stern, or Fordham Gabelli strengthens candidacy for the first management-track finance role.
Where can I find and apply to strategic finance manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to strategic finance manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and target location, and apply directly to each position that matches.
