At Visual Edge IT, we believe great business decisions start with great insight. As a growing technology organization, we’re looking for an analytical, curious, and business-minded FP&A Analyst to join our Corporate Finance team and help turn financial and operational data into decisions that move the business forward.
This is not a traditional reporting role. As an FP&A Analyst, you’ll go beyond the numbers to understand why performance looks the way it does, connect operational activity to financial outcomes, challenge assumptions, and identify opportunities to improve business performance. You’ll work closely with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Sales, IT, and other business leaders to develop meaningful analysis, improve visibility, and support strategic company initiatives.
If you enjoy solving complex business problems, working with large datasets, building financial models, and translating analysis into clear recommendations, this role gives you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the organization.
- Perform financial and operational analysis to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and the key drivers behind business performance.
- Develop financial models, business cases, scenario analyses, and other analytical tools to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Analyze large and complex datasets from multiple systems and translate information into actionable business insights.
- Build and maintain KPI dashboards, management reporting packages, and analytical tools that improve visibility into business performance.
- Partner with business leaders to understand operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide data-driven recommendations.
- Leverage Business Intelligence tools and reporting platforms to expand analytical capabilities and improve how leaders access and use information.
- Present financial findings, insights, and recommendations clearly to Finance, business leadership, and other stakeholders.
- Support executive, Board, and lender reporting requirements with accurate, meaningful, and timely analysis.
- Identify opportunities to automate reporting and analysis, streamline processes, and improve the efficiency and quality of financial information.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
- Proactively identify business risks and opportunities and help translate findings into actions that improve performance.
- Build strong relationships across Finance, Accounting, Operations, Sales, IT, and other functions to serve as a trusted analytical partner to the business.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in FP&A, business analytics, corporate finance, consulting, or a related analytical role.
- Strong financial analysis, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft tools.
- Experience working with large datasets and Business Intelligence tools.
- Ability to synthesize complex financial and operational information into clear, concise business recommendations.
- Strong analytical curiosity and a demonstrated desire to understand the business drivers behind financial results—not simply report the numbers.
- Highly self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build credibility with business leaders.
- Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience with OneStream, Power BI, or similar reporting and analytics platforms is preferred.
- MBA or other advanced certifications are a plus, but not required.

Financial Planning Analyst Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial planning analyst in Ohio?
Most financial planning analyst roles in Ohio require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration. No state-issued license is required to work in the role, but Ohio employers consistently favor candidates who hold or are pursuing credentials such as the CFA, CPA, or CFP. Many candidates enter through corporate finance or accounting roles at Ohio-based companies and move into dedicated FP&A positions after building foundational experience.
How much do financial planning analysts make in Ohio?
Financial planning analysts in Ohio earn a median of about $94,280 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,870 for the lowest 10% to over $142,420 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial planning analysts in Ohio?
Employers hiring financial planning analysts in Ohio right now include ATSG, Jamba Juice, and NiSource, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Ohio's concentration of insurance headquarters, regional banks, and large healthcare systems means demand is spread across multiple industries rather than a single sector.
Which Ohio cities have the most financial planning analyst jobs?
Columbus, Wilmington, and Akron have the most financial planning analyst openings in Ohio. Columbus dominates because of its dense cluster of insurance companies, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters, while Cleveland and Cincinnati reflect the presence of regional banks, healthcare systems, and manufacturing conglomerates that maintain sizable finance teams.
Are there remote financial planning analyst jobs in Ohio?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 29% of financial planning analyst openings tied to Ohio are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well-suited the role is to desk-based analytical work. Forecasting, modeling, and reporting functions are the most commonly offered remotely, while roles requiring close collaboration with operations or executive leadership more often require in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a financial planning analyst in Ohio with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior financial analyst or finance rotational program at a large Ohio employer. Companies like Nationwide, Progressive, and the major Ohio health systems run structured rotational or development programs that place early-career candidates into FP&A adjacent roles. Transitioning from accounting, financial reporting, or business analyst positions is also common. Building proficiency in Excel-based financial modeling and earning progress toward a CFA or CPA designation gives candidates a measurable edge in Ohio hiring processes.
