Corporate Accountant Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a corporate accountant in Tennessee?
Most corporate accountant roles in Tennessee require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and many employers prefer or require CPA licensure. The Tennessee State Board of Accountancy oversees CPA licensure in the state, requiring completion of the Uniform CPA Examination, a qualifying degree, and supervised experience hours. Even roles that don't mandate the CPA will often list it as a strong preference, so beginning the process early improves your competitiveness.
How much do corporate accountants make in Tennessee?
Corporate accountants in Tennessee earn a median of about $76,840 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $49,920 for the lowest 10% to over $122,160 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire corporate accountants in Tennessee?
Employers hiring corporate accountants in Tennessee right now include Hilton, Moody Dunbar, and Community Health Systems, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's mix of large healthcare systems, logistics companies, and manufacturers creates consistent demand for corporate accounting professionals at multiple experience levels.
Which Tennessee cities have the most corporate accountant jobs?
Memphis, Franklin, and Nashville have the most corporate accountant openings in Tennessee. Nashville dominates because it is home to the headquarters and major regional offices of large healthcare, insurance, and financial services companies, while Memphis benefits from its concentration of logistics and distribution firms, and Knoxville draws on manufacturing and energy sector employers in East Tennessee.

Yes, and more than many fields, since corporate accounting is largely desk-based and document-driven. Financial reporting, general ledger, and reconciliation work tend to be the most remote-friendly functions within the discipline.
How can I get hired as a corporate accountant in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a staff accountant or accounting associate role, which large Tennessee employers such as HCA Healthcare and FedEx post regularly for new graduates. Completing or actively pursuing CPA licensure through the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy gives candidates a strong edge. Lateral moves from accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll positions are common, and internships with Nashville or Memphis-area finance teams frequently convert to full-time offers.
