This is an Hourly position.
Position Summary: Performs EKG and obtains blood and other specimens from outpatients for laboratory testing according to licensed physician’s or provider’s orders. In doing so, obtains needed supplies, verifies patient identification with double identifier, prepares skin sites, and performs venipuncture, and skin punctures according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimens in front of patient, processes specimens and prepares samples for transportation to the OSF System Laboratory for analysis. Performs clerical and/or computer duties associated with the Lab and EKG. Demonstrates the knowledge and Skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Maintains professional relationship with patients, Mission Partners, and physicians. The following are general characteristics of this job, although duties may vary by assigned area and/or shift.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School/GED
Experience: Ability to regularly and timely travel between various sites.
Other Skills/ Knowledge:
- Analytical skills necessary for Phlebotomy requirements and specimen preparation.
- Ability to regularly and timely travel between various sites.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Completion of formal structured phlebotomy program OR 3 months’ full-time phlebotomy experience or equivalent.
- EKG experience.
Experience: Completion of formal structured phlebotomy program.
Licensure/ Certification:
- CPR Certification
- Phlebotomy Technician Certification (PBT)
Other skills/Knowledge:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
