DESCRIPTION
Define what ‘production-ready’ means for the next generation of fulfilment technology. As a Reliability Engineer within the New Technology Introduction (NTI) team, you will be the primary reliability subject matter expert for emerging automation and robotics — from autonomous mobile robots and robotic picking systems to next-generation sortation and material handling equipment. You’ll identify where new systems fall short of maintainability, serviceability, and reliability standards, work with development teams to find solutions, and update requirements to prevent issues from recurring across the network. You will engage with engineering teams, vendors, and operations partners to represent RME reliability requirements, provide input into revised designs, and evolve standards to keep pace with new technology types. You will balance operational needs with technical constraints, striving to optimise system design for long-term performance while maintaining a strong focus on standards, scalability, and supportability. As the team scales, you’ll have the opportunity to shape reliability standards that become the baseline for our global network and mentor future team members. You will be based in North America and travel to development sites across NA, with international travel as needed.
Key job responsibilities
What you’ll do:
- Lead reliability assessments and design reviews for new automation and robotics technologies, identifying gaps in maintainability, serviceability, and reliability and working with development teams to resolve them before deployment.
- Define and maintain reliability standards, maintenance strategies, and serviceability requirements — updating them as new technology types reveal gaps.
- Conduct FMEA, reliability modelling, and life cycle cost analysis, working with development teams on design improvements and tracking MTBF, MTTR, availability, and maintainability KPIs.
- Partner with engineering teams, vendors, and stakeholders to represent RME reliability requirements during design, pilot, and full-scale rollout phases.
- Develop preventive maintenance programs, spare parts strategies, and maintenance documentation for new technologies.
- Investigate equipment failures and performance degradation to identify root causes, drive solutions with development teams, and update standards to prevent re-occurrence across the network.
- Monitor reliability performance metrics, identify recurring issues, and drive improvements back into standards and readiness criteria.
- Identify where maintenance processes are overly complex or inconsistent, and drive simplification through updated standards and common requirements.

Technology Intern Jobs in Nashville: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a technology intern job in Nashville?
Focus your search on Nashville's healthcare IT ecosystem, its growing fintech corridor, and the enterprise software companies clustered in the Gulch and SoBro. Candidates who stand out typically have hands-on project experience, even from coursework or personal builds, and can speak to tools relevant to those sectors. Connecting with local tech meetups and university career fairs tied to Vanderbilt or Belmont also opens doors that online applications alone do not.
Which companies hire technology interns in Nashville?
Employers hiring technology interns in Nashville right now include Amazon, Starbucks, and Deloitte, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nashville's intern market draws from a mix of large health systems with dedicated IT divisions, regional banks and insurance carriers, and fast-growing SaaS startups that have relocated or expanded here over the past several years.
Are there remote technology intern jobs in Nashville?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the type of work. About 40% of technology intern openings tied to Nashville are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with fully remote arrangements most common for software development and data roles. Internships tied to Nashville's healthcare IT companies tend to favor on-site or hybrid schedules, particularly when the work involves clinical systems or hardware.
How can I get a technology intern job in Nashville with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Nashville is targeting smaller SaaS companies and startup studios in the Gulch and East Nashville that regularly bring on project-based interns regardless of formal experience. Building a portfolio with a GitHub profile or a deployed side project matters more than a resume in this market. Healthcare IT vendors headquartered here also hire for IT support and QA intern roles that are explicitly entry-level and do not require prior professional experience.
Which industries hire the most technology interns in Nashville?
Nashville technology intern roles concentrate in Retail, Technology & Software, and E-Commerce & Online Marketplaces, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Nashville's position as a national center for healthcare services and its expanding base of fintech and insurance technology companies make those sectors the dominant drivers of local intern demand.
