Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Acquisition Specialist
Align your credentials to USMCA categories
Acquisition Specialist positions must fit a recognized TN category, most often Management Consultant. Your degree should be in business, supply chain, or a related field. A mismatch between your credential and the stated role is the most common TN denial trigger.
Target federal contractors over pure commercial employers
Federal contractors routinely handle TN paperwork because compliance is already baked into their operations. Firms holding GSA schedules or DoD contracts sponsor Acquisition Specialists regularly and understand the documentation requirements without needing internal education.
Request a detailed support letter before your border appointment
Canadians present their TN packet directly to a CBP officer. Your employer's support letter must specify the acquisition-related duties, confirm you won't displace U.S. workers, and state the engagement length. Generic offer letters get questioned at the port of entry.
Search verified TN-sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Acquisition Specialist openings by employers with recent visa filings. This cuts prospecting time by removing employers without visa sponsorship experience, who may be unfamiliar with supporting work visa candidates for this role.
Clarify Mexican nationals' consular timeline with the employer upfront
Mexican applicants must schedule a U.S. consular interview, which adds weeks to the start date. Raise this during offer negotiations so the employer builds in lead time. Surprises after a verbal offer create friction and risk the position being pulled.
Document acquisition-specific duties in role description
If your employer has experience sponsoring work visas, the job description must reflect actual acquisition work: procurement strategy, contract lifecycle management, or vendor evaluation. Clear, specific duties are important because immigration officers at the port of entry or consulate will evaluate whether your role genuinely qualifies for TN status under the professional occupation list.

Find Acquisition Specialist JobsAcquisition Specialist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Acquisition Specialist role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, but the fit depends on how the role is framed. Acquisition Specialist duties that involve procurement analysis, contract management, or strategic sourcing align with the USMCA's Management Consultant category. Roles focused primarily on sales or customer acquisition typically don't qualify. Your employer's support letter needs to describe the professional-level advisory and analytical functions clearly.
How does TN visa sponsorship for Acquisition Specialists compare to H-1B?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no multi-month wait for adjudication. Canadians can activate TN status at the port of entry the same day. H-1B requires an April registration, a lottery selection, and USCIS petition processing that can take six months or more. For Acquisition Specialists with a qualifying offer, TN is faster and more predictable than the H-1B route.
What documents does a Canadian Acquisition Specialist need at the border?
You'll need a valid Canadian passport, a formal job offer letter describing your acquisition duties and engagement terms, and proof of your qualifying degree or professional credentials. CBP officers adjudicate TN petitions on the spot, so every document should be organized and ready before you reach the primary inspection booth. Incomplete packets cause delays or secondary inspection.
Where can I find Acquisition Specialist jobs that include TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Acquisition Specialist openings from employers with recent visa filings, so you're not cold-applying to companies inexperienced with work visa sponsorship. Filtering by sponsorship type upfront saves weeks of back-and-forth with recruiters unfamiliar with TN requirements and the support letter process.
Can a Mexican national on TN status change Acquisition Specialist employers?
Yes, but TN status is tied to a specific employer. When you change jobs, your new employer must either support a fresh consular application or, if you're already inside the U.S., file an I-129 petition with USCIS to transfer your status. You should not start work for the new employer until the new TN authorization is in place.
