Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Agency Owner
Frame your role as management consulting
Agency Owner positions qualify under TN's Management Consultant category, not a generic business owner classification. Your job offer letter must describe advisory, strategic, or operational consulting duties. Titles like 'Agency Principal' or 'Owner' alone won't carry the filing.
Document your consulting scope before applying
Gather client contracts, engagement letters, or statements of work that prove you provide professional consulting services. CBP officers assess the actual duties performed, not just your title. A thin paper trail is the most common reason TN requests get pushed back at the border.
Target employers with consulting service structures
Search for agencies that bill clients on retainer or project-based contracts rather than product-only businesses. These structures map cleanly to the Management Consultant category and make the employer's sponsorship letter far easier to write accurately.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify Agency Owner and management consulting roles where U.S. employers are actively open to TN sponsorship. Filtering by visa type saves time you'd otherwise spend cold-qualifying employers who aren't familiar with the TN process.
Have your employer write a duties-first offer letter
The sponsorship letter must lead with what you'll actually do for the business, not your title or reporting structure. CBP expects to see the consulting problem you're solving, the methodology you'll apply, and the professional credentials that qualify you to do it.
Prepare for port-of-entry questions as a Canadian
Canadian citizens don't get a visa stamp; they present their TN package directly to CBP at the border. Bring your degree transcripts, your employer's offer letter, and any prior engagement documentation. Officers can and do ask detailed questions about your consulting deliverables on the spot.

Find Agency Owner JobsAgency Owner TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Agency Owner qualify as a TN visa occupation?
Agency Owner is not a listed TN category by title, but the role can qualify under Management Consultant when your duties involve advising clients or businesses on strategy, operations, or organizational effectiveness. The classification depends entirely on what you do, not what you're called. Your employer's offer letter must describe consulting-specific duties, and you need a qualifying degree in a relevant field such as business, management, or economics.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Agency Owner roles?
TN has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start work as soon as CBP approves your application at the border. H-1B requires a lottery selection that happens once per year and carries a six-month wait before the start date even after selection. For Agency Owner and consulting roles, TN is faster, more predictable, and doesn't require USCIS to adjudicate a petition before you begin working.
What documents do you need for TN sponsorship as an Agency Owner?
You need a detailed offer letter from the U.S. employer describing your consulting duties and confirming you hold a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. You also need your degree transcripts or diploma and your valid passport. If your agency work involves existing client relationships, engagement letters or contracts that demonstrate the professional consulting nature of your services strengthen the application significantly.
Where can Canadian and Mexican professionals find Agency Owner jobs with TN sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job seekers and lists Agency Owner and management consulting roles at employers open to sponsoring the TN category. Searching by visa type and role lets you skip the step of manually qualifying each employer, which is where most TN candidates lose time in a job search focused on consulting-category positions.
Can a Mexican citizen get TN sponsorship for an Agency Owner role?
Yes, but the process differs from the Canadian path. Mexican citizens must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate and receive a visa stamp before traveling to the United States. The same Management Consultant category and duty requirements apply. Mexico's TN allocation is capped at 5,500 per year under USMCA, though demand historically runs well below that limit, so availability is rarely the practical obstacle.
