Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship in Growth
Align your degree to the right TN category
Growth roles don't map to a single TN visa category. A business or economics degree supports Economist; an MBA or management background supports Management Consultant. Misaligning your credentials to the category is the most common filing error.
Request a detailed offer letter from your employer
Your offer letter must describe daily duties that match the TN category, not just your job title. Ask HR to frame responsibilities in terms USCIS recognizes: strategic analysis, market research, or organizational consulting rather than generic growth work.
Target companies with cross-border hiring infrastructure
Look for employers who have hired Canadian or Mexican professionals before. Companies with existing TN experience know how to draft the support letter and won't delay your start date learning the process from scratch.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers already sponsoring TN visas
Searching broadly wastes time on employers who won't sponsor. Migrate Mate filters Growth roles by verified TN visa sponsorship history, so you're applying where cross-border hiring is already established, not hoping the recruiter knows what TN means.
Prepare for port-of-entry adjudication if you're Canadian
Canadian citizens apply directly at the border, where a CBP officer decides on the spot. Bring your offer letter, degree transcripts, and credentials in a single organized package. Incomplete documentation at the port is not correctable that day.
Confirm your TN status before each employer transition
TN status is employer-specific. Starting a new Growth role before your new employer files and USCIS approves puts you out of status. Plan your transition window so your current TN remains valid through the changeover.
Growth TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Which TN visa category covers Growth roles?
Growth roles most commonly qualify under Management Consultant or Economist, depending on your actual duties and degree. A Growth Manager focused on go-to-market strategy and revenue modeling aligns with Economist if you hold an economics degree. A Growth role centered on organizational optimization fits Management Consultant. Your offer letter must describe duties that match the category exactly.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Growth professionals?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start a Growth role as soon as your application is approved, often within days at the port of entry. H-1B visa requires entering a randomized lottery each spring with a roughly 25 percent selection rate. The tradeoff is that TN requires you to remain in a defined professional category and cannot lead to a green card directly.
Can I find Growth jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Migrate Mate lists Growth roles filtered by employers with documented TN visa sponsorship history, so you can apply directly to companies that have already navigated the process. This avoids spending weeks in conversations with employers who don't know how to sponsor or won't invest in learning.
Does my Canadian or Mexican employer need to file paperwork before I start?
For Canadians, no advance USCIS filing is required. You present your documents at the port of entry and CBP adjudicates on the spot, often in under an hour. Mexican citizens must schedule a consular interview and receive approval before entering. In both cases, your U.S. employer must provide a detailed support letter and you must hold the qualifying degree before any application.
What happens to my TN status if my Growth role changes significantly?
If your duties shift enough to fall outside your approved TN category, you're technically out of compliance with your status. A title change alone may not matter, but a shift from quantitative market analysis to pure people management could move you outside the Economist or Management Consultant category. You'd need to reapply at the port of entry or through USCIS before taking on the new responsibilities.
