JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Business Process Automation Engineer, you will drive measurable business impact by designing and implementing automation solutions that improve how our Corporate Services business partners operate. You will develop and deliver automation and AI-enabled solutions that connect disconnected business processes and tasks, helping our teams and business clients work more efficiently and effectively.
This role requires a deep understanding of current-state processes, the ability to translate inefficiencies into automation opportunities, and the use of enterprise tools and AI capabilities to deliver rapid ROI. You will have the opportunity to architect, design, and develop end-to-end solutions, build working prototypes, partner with Automation and Agentic AI experts and developers, and ensure every solution creates tangible efficiency gains and value for stakeholders.
This role reports to the Business Systems Consultant, BTS Corporate Services, within the Business Technology Solutions department. We set the vision for how AI and automation enhance our enterprise systems and work closely with business partners to bring that vision to life. This role is on site in Lake County, IL, with flexibility to work from home 2 days per week.
IDEAL CANDIDATES ARE
-
Business-Savvy Technologists: You can quickly learn and understand current-state processes, apply design thinking to ask diagnostic questions that uncover inefficiencies, and design end-to-end solutions that deliver clear ROI and efficiency gains.
-
Forward Thinkers: You are an impact-driven pragmatist who is focused not just on what is possible, but on what is practical, measurable, and real.
-
Strong Technical Leaders: You are a rapid learner who stays current with evolving AI technologies, frameworks, and enterprise tools, and can code at a detailed technical level.
-
Creative and Quick-to-Value Developers: You understand that working code matters, and you prioritize rapid prototyping, iteration, and production deployment. You can envision what is possible and design intuitive solutions for business partners.
-
Highly Agile: You prefer to learn by building, experimenting, and iterating, and you are comfortable working through ambiguity and evolving requirements.
Responsibilities
-
Engage deeply with Corporate Services stakeholders to understand current-state processes, pain points, constraints, to-be business requirements, and success metrics, and translate these into technical solution designs that deliver measurable efficiency gains.
-
Engineer and implement scalable automation solutions, delivering clean, scalable, production-ready code that integrates with enterprise systems and optimizes business partner workflows.
-
Prioritize rapid prototyping and iterative development by building working MVPs quickly to validate solutions with stakeholders, then refining based on feedback to accelerate time to value.
-
Partner with the business to analyze processes and needs, recommend the most effective solutions, and simplify complex work procedures and job methods.
-
Lead and facilitate meetings effectively with customers and technical team members.
-
Be deliverables focused and detail oriented, demonstrate exceptional teamwork, and maintain a strong customer focus.
-
Bring hands-on expertise with Microsoft Power Platform tools, especially Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI, along with a solid understanding of how to apply AI to streamline workflows and improve business outcomes.
-
Translate business needs into practical automation solutions, work effectively with stakeholders, and build secure, scalable, and user-friendly tools that drive efficiency and innovation.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THE FIRST 6–12 MONTHS
-
You have built a strong understanding of Corporate Services processes, key pain points, and automation opportunities.
-
You have delivered one or more working automation solutions or MVPs that materially improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, or improve cycle time.
-
You are independently owning assigned automation work from discovery through delivery, including requirements clarification, solution design, development, testing, and deployment support.
-
You have established trusted relationships with business partners and can clearly communicate progress, tradeoffs, and outcomes.
-
You are using measurable metrics to demonstrate impact, such as hours saved, process cycle-time reduction, error reduction, or improved user experience.
-
You have applied Microsoft Power Platform and AI capabilities in a way that creates repeatable value and supports broader automation strategy.
-
You are consistently delivering solutions that are stable, secure, maintainable, and aligned to business priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS

Frame your credentials around management consulting
TN visa classification for this role falls under Management Consultant, not a standalone Process Optimization category. Your resume, degree transcripts, and offer letter must all use language that maps clearly to consulting activities: analyzing operations, recommending improvements, and implementing solutions.
Target employers with dedicated process improvement functions
Large manufacturers, healthcare systems, and logistics companies typically maintain continuous improvement or operational excellence teams. These employers already understand TN-eligible consulting roles and are less likely to confuse Management Consultant status with permanent employment during the offer stage.
Get your offer letter to specify project-based consulting language
CBP officers assess TN eligibility at the port of entry based on the offer letter. If your letter describes a staff role rather than consulting engagements, you risk a denial. Ask your employer to describe deliverables, client-facing analysis, or process assessment scope explicitly.
Use O*NET to validate your role's TN eligibility requirements
Search your intended job title on O*NET to confirm it requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline. If the occupation zone is below 4, USCIS officers at the border or consulate may question whether the role meets TN's professional threshold, especially for generalist business analyst titles. Having your employer's support letter clearly document the degree requirement and specialized nature of the work will strengthen your application.
Search for TN-sponsoring employers using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Business Process Optimization jobs specifically by TN visa sponsorship eligibility, saving you from applying to roles where employers have no familiarity with USMCA-based work authorization. Start your employer search there before reaching out to hiring managers.
Prepare for Canadian land-border approval with a complete document package
Canadian citizens can obtain TN status at a U.S. land port of entry the same day, but incomplete paperwork causes delays or denials on the spot. Bring your offer letter, credential evaluation if your degree is from a non-U.S. institution, and proof of Canadian citizenship.
Business Process Optimization TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Business Process Optimization qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, but the role must be classified under the TN Management Consultant category. Your employer's offer letter needs to describe consulting-style activities such as analyzing workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending operational improvements. Titles like Process Analyst or Continuous Improvement Manager can qualify if the underlying duties align with management consulting rather than permanent staff functions.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Business Process Optimization professionals?
The TN visa has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and can be approved at a U.S. port of entry the same day for Canadian citizens. H-1B visa requires employer sponsorship through a lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate and a processing window of several months. For Canadian and Mexican professionals in Business Process Optimization, TN is a faster and more predictable path, provided the role maps cleanly to the Management Consultant category.
Where can I find Business Process Optimization jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point. It surfaces Business Process Optimization roles specifically filtered for TN visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not spending time on applications where the employer has no experience with USMCA-based work authorization. Standard job boards don't filter by visa type or TN familiarity, which wastes significant time in the search process.
Can Mexican citizens use the TN visa for Business Process Optimization roles?
Yes. Mexican citizens qualify for TN status under USMCA, including for Management Consultant roles covering Business Process Optimization. Unlike Canadian citizens, Mexican nationals must apply through a U.S. consulate abroad rather than at a land port of entry, and there is a limited annual allocation. The consular process typically takes several weeks, so plan your timeline accordingly.
What happens to my TN status if my Business Process Optimization contract ends early?
TN status is employer-specific and tied to the approved role. If your position ends before your authorized period expires, you have a 60-day grace period under USCIS regulations to find a new TN-eligible employer, change to another valid status, or depart the United States. Starting a new TN with a different employer requires a fresh application with a new offer letter covering qualifying consulting duties.
