Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Community Engagement Coordinator
Align your credentials to TN social worker criteria
TN sponsorship for this role routes through the Social Worker category, which requires a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in social work or a closely related field. A degree in communications or public administration may face scrutiny at the port of entry.
Target nonprofits and government contractors first
Nonprofits, municipal agencies, and federally funded community development organizations sponsor TN workers more consistently than private firms for this role because their funding mandates often require documented outreach staff with verifiable credentials.
Request a detailed offer letter before filing
Your employer's offer letter must specify your job duties, degree requirement, and that the position is temporary. CBP officers at the border evaluate TN eligibility on the spot, so vague language about responsibilities gets petitions rejected without appeal.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for TN-ready employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers experienced with visa sponsorship for community-facing roles. Targeting organizations with recent visa filings demonstrates they understand work visa processes, which can streamline negotiations and reduce the risk of working with an employer unfamiliar with sponsorship requirements.
Prepare for consulate review if you hold a Mexican passport
Mexican nationals cannot self-petition at the border and must schedule a consulate appointment. Bring your degree transcripts, a certified translation if your degree is in Spanish, and a support letter from your employer explaining how your role meets the Social Worker category definition.
Clarify E-Verify enrollment with your employer before your start date
Some federal grant recipients and government contractors are required to participate in E-Verify. Confirm your employer's enrollment status during the offer stage so your I-9 verification clears without delays on your first day.

Find Community Engagement Coordinator JobsCommunity Engagement Coordinator TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Community Engagement Coordinator role qualify for a TN visa?
It can, but the fit depends on how the role is defined. TN visas don't list Community Engagement Coordinator as a named category. Most successful petitions route through the Social Worker classification, which requires a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in social work or a related discipline. If your job duties center on program coordination rather than direct social services, CBP may request additional documentation to confirm the category match.
How does TN compare to H-1B for this type of role?
TN is generally faster and more accessible for Canadian and Mexican professionals in this field. There is no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and Canadians can receive TN status at the port of entry on the same day. H-1B requires a lottery registration, a petitioning employer, and months of processing. The trade-off is that TN status must be tied to a specific employer and a specific qualifying category, which means your offer letter has to be precise.
What documents does my employer need to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer must provide a detailed support letter on company letterhead stating your job title, a description of your duties, the degree or credentials required, and confirmation that the position is temporary in nature. They should also include a copy of your credential documentation. For Mexican nationals applying at a consulate, this letter is a required part of the DS-160 application package reviewed by the consular officer.
Where can I find Community Engagement Coordinator jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for TN-eligible roles in the United States. You can filter by job title and visa type to find employers with recent visa filings, which significantly reduces the back-and-forth of explaining the sponsorship process to employers new to hiring international talent.
Can I switch employers after receiving TN status as a Community Engagement Coordinator?
Yes, but you cannot simply transfer your TN status to a new employer the way an H-1B holder can use portability. You need a new TN authorization tied to the new employer before you begin working for them. Canadian professionals can obtain this at the border with a new offer letter. Mexican nationals must return to a U.S. consulate. Plan your transition timeline to avoid any gap in authorized work status.
