Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Net Engineer
Align your credentials to engineering standards
USCIS classifies Net Engineers under the Engineers category, which requires a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in a relevant engineering field. A degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or network systems strengthens your TN petition significantly over a general IT credential.
Request a TN-specific offer letter
Your employer's offer letter must describe the position as an engineering role, not a generic IT or support function. Ask your hiring contact to specify network architecture, systems design, or infrastructure engineering duties to satisfy the TN Engineers category definition.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Look for companies with recent visa sponsorship experience in technology, telecommunications, and defense contracting. These employers have demonstrated familiarity with work visa processes and are typically more efficient in supporting visa-eligible candidates, including those pursuing TN status through the streamlined border or consulate application process.
Search TN-sponsored Net Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find Net Engineer positions where employers are open to TN visa sponsorship. The platform filters roles by visa type so you're not wasting applications on employers who only support H-1B or won't sponsor international candidates at all.
Prepare for port-of-entry processing if Canadian
As a Canadian citizen, you can apply for TN admission directly at a U.S. land border or airport with your offer letter, degree credentials, and a TN support letter from your employer. CBP officers adjudicate on the spot, so bring organized originals, not copies.
Clarify your employment structure before filing
TN status requires a direct employer-employee relationship. If your Net Engineer role involves a staffing agency, third-party client site, or contractor arrangement, confirm with your employer whether they will be presenting your TN documentation at the port of entry (for Canadians) or U.S. consulate (for Mexicans), since unclear employment structures can complicate the application process.

Find Net Engineer JobsNet Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Net Engineer role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, Net Engineer positions qualify under the TN Engineers category, provided the role requires at least a baccalaureate or licenciatura degree in an engineering discipline and the duties involve engineering work such as network design, infrastructure planning, or systems architecture. Roles framed as IT support or help desk typically do not qualify, so job title and duty description both matter.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Net Engineers?
TN is faster and more predictable for Net Engineers than H-1B. There is no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and no multi-year wait for a petition number. Canadians can receive TN status at the port of entry the same day. H-1B requires an employer to sponsor you through a lottery with roughly 25% selection odds, then wait months for USCIS processing before you can start work.
Where can I find Net Engineer jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point. The platform lets you search specifically for Net Engineer roles where employers are open to TN visa sponsorship, filtering out positions that only support H-1B or U.S. citizens. This saves time and targets employers already familiar with USMCA-based hiring for Canadian and Mexican professionals.
Does my Mexican engineering degree qualify for TN purposes?
A licenciatura degree from a Mexican university in electrical engineering, computer engineering, network systems, or a closely related field satisfies the TN educational requirement. USCIS recognizes Mexican licenciatura degrees as equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate. If your degree is in a tangential field, a credential evaluation from a recognized organization can help establish equivalency.
Can I switch employers while working on TN status as a Net Engineer?
You can change employers on TN status, but you must have a new offer letter and begin a fresh TN process before starting with the new employer. Canadians can handle this at a port of entry with the new employer's documentation. Mexican citizens must return to a U.S. consulate for a new TN visa stamp tied to the new employer before beginning work.
