Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Electronics Engineer
Verify your degree maps to electronics engineering
USCIS requires your credential to align with the specific TN Engineer subcategory. A degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a closely related field works. A general physics or computer science degree may not, so confirm the match before applying.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Employers with recent visa filings for engineers are already experienced with visa sponsorship processes. Searching for roles at companies with documented sponsorship history in engineering fields helps identify employers likely familiar with supporting work visa candidates in electronics and electrical engineering positions.
Search TN-specific roles through Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Senior Electronics Engineer openings by employers with recent visa filings and sponsorship experience. Use it to focus your search on companies experienced with work visa processes, so you spend time on viable opportunities.
Address defense and export control during offer negotiation
Many senior electronics roles involve ITAR-controlled technology or defense contracts requiring U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Confirm export control requirements before accepting an offer, since TN status alone does not satisfy those restrictions.
Prepare a TN support letter covering specialty occupation details
Your employer's support letter must specify that the role requires a degree in electronics engineering or a related discipline, not just any engineering field. Border officers and consular officials use this letter to confirm the role qualifies under the Engineer category.
Understand the Mexican TN consular timeline before your start date
Mexican citizens must schedule a consular appointment rather than presenting at the border. USCIS and DOS processing periods mean you should align your offer acceptance with your appointment availability to avoid a start date conflict.

Find Senior Electronics Engineer JobsSenior Electronics Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Electronics Engineer role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, Senior Electronics Engineer roles qualify under the TN Engineer category, which covers electrical and electronics engineering positions requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in the field. The role must involve work that is directly tied to electronics engineering practice, not general technical management or unrelated functions. Both Canadian and Mexican citizens are eligible.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for electronics engineers?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, so you can start work as soon as your status is approved. H-1B requires lottery selection, a cap-subject petition, and a multi-month wait. For Senior Electronics Engineer roles, TN is faster to obtain and easier to renew, though it does not provide a direct path to a green card the way H-1B does.
Can I switch employers while on TN status as an electronics engineer?
Yes, but you need new TN authorization tied to the new employer before starting work there. Unlike H-1B portability, TN status does not allow you to begin employment with a new company under a pending transfer. Canadians can get new TN status at a port of entry; Mexicans must return to a consulate or apply for a change of status with USCIS.
Where can I find Senior Electronics Engineer jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking roles with TN sponsorship. It surfaces Senior Electronics Engineer openings from employers who have already demonstrated willingness to sponsor, so you can focus on positions where the process is already familiar to the hiring team rather than educating employers about TN from scratch.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a support letter on company letterhead specifying your job title, the nature of the work, your required qualifications, and the fact that the role requires a degree in electronics engineering or a closely related field. You'll also need your original degree certificate or transcripts. If your degree is from outside North America, a credential evaluation may strengthen the application.
