Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Entry Level
Align your degree to USMCA job categories
TN eligibility depends on your occupation matching an approved USMCA category, not just your job title. Confirm your entry level role falls under a listed profession before applying, since a mismatched category is the most common reason TN petitions get denied.
Request a TN-specific offer letter
Your employer's offer letter must describe your role, its connection to a USMCA profession, and your intended start date. Generic offer letters regularly cause delays at the port of entry, so ask HR to include this detail before you travel.
Target employers with U.S. immigration infrastructure
Mid-size and large employers in engineering, finance, and IT are far more likely to have HR teams familiar with TN filings. Filter your search to companies that have sponsored work visas before so you're not educating a hiring manager about TN from scratch.
Search TN-sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to find entry level roles at employers who actively sponsor TN visas. Filtering by TN-eligible occupations saves time you'd otherwise spend cold-applying to companies with no immigration support in place.
Prepare your credential documents before interviewing
Canadian professionals can get TN status at the border on the same day, but only with the right documents in hand. Gather your degree transcripts, diplomas, and any professional licenses before you start interviewing so you're ready to file the moment an offer arrives.
Understand Mexican TN quota timing before accepting an offer
Mexican nationals are subject to an annual TN cap of 5,500 visas, unlike Canadians who face no limit. If you're Mexican and receive an offer late in the fiscal year, confirm with your employer's immigration contact that quota remains available before you give notice at your current job.

Find Entry Level JobsEntry Level TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
What entry level occupations qualify for a TN visa?
TN visas cover specific USMCA-listed professions, not all entry level roles. Qualifying entry level positions typically fall under categories like engineer, accountant, computer systems analyst, scientific technician, or management consultant. Your job duties and your degree field both need to match the USMCA profession description, not just your job title.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for entry level jobs?
TN sponsorship is significantly more accessible for entry level roles than H-1B. There's no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian applicants, and employers can file your TN at the border the same day you receive an offer. H-1B requires advance lottery registration, a six-month wait if selected, and USCIS adjudication. For qualifying USMCA occupations, TN is almost always the faster path.
Can my employer file my TN visa if they've never sponsored one before?
Yes, but expect the process to take longer. Employers new to TN filings often submit incomplete offer letters or miss the USMCA profession documentation requirements. Giving your HR team the USCIS TN visa checklist early in the process reduces back-and-forth and avoids delays at the border or during USCIS adjudication.
Where can I find entry level jobs that sponsor TN visas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals searching for TN-eligible roles. You can filter by USMCA occupation category and find employers who have actively sponsored work visas, which saves significant time compared to applying broadly and asking each employer individually about their immigration support.
Does my entry level role need to require a bachelor's degree to qualify for TN status?
For most USMCA categories, yes. The TN visa is designed for professional-level roles, and USCIS or CBP will review whether your position genuinely requires a degree in a specific field. If your entry level role accepts any bachelor's degree regardless of field, that can create problems with the specialty occupation standard and weaken your TN application.
