INTRODUCTION
Eccalon LLC is seeking a Power Engineer with deep expertise in grid-scale energy generation, interconnection design, and storage integration. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking electrical engineer with a strong understanding of renewable energy systems, battery storage technologies, and data center power architecture. This individual will be responsible for designing and optimizing infrastructure that enables solar and other distributed energy sources to charge battery systems, which in turn supply resilient and efficient power to data centers and the broader electric grid.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and model integrated energy systems involving solar, wind, batteries, and conventional generation to support grid and data center loads.
- Develop electrical interconnect strategies to ensure safe, reliable, and standards-compliant connections between renewable assets, energy storage, and grid infrastructure.
- Perform power flow analysis, protection coordination, and stability studies using industry tools (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, or similar).
- Support the design of microgrids, islanding systems, and backup power solutions for mission-critical facilities.
- Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and software engineers to ensure multidisciplinary system integration.
- Evaluate interconnection standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FERC, NERC, IEEE 1547, UL 9540) and guide system designs to ensure compliance.
- Work with utility companies, ISOs, and project developers to secure interconnection approvals and optimize grid tie-in strategies.
- Develop technical documentation including one-line diagrams, load studies, interconnect applications, and power purchase agreements (PPAs) where applicable.
- Contribute to proposal development, R&D efforts, and system prototyping for defense and commercial energy resilience projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in power systems engineering, preferably with a focus on renewable integration and grid interconnects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical system design, high/medium/low voltage systems, and control systems for DERs (Distributed Energy Resources).
- Familiarity with battery technologies (e.g., Li-ion, flow batteries), power converters/inverters, and energy management systems.
- Understanding of data center power requirements, redundancy architectures (e.g., N+1, 2N), and grid support strategies.
- Experience working with utility grid codes, interconnection standards, and renewable energy permitting processes.
- Proficient in power simulation and modeling tools.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical concepts to cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
- Experience with military or federal energy resilience programs (e.g., DoD ESPC, microgrid pilots).
- Working knowledge of SCADA, DERMS, or energy market integration platforms.
- Familiarity with government acquisition processes or SBIR/STTR projects.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Power Bi Developer
Align your credentials to Systems Analyst
TN visa classification for Power BI Developers typically falls under Systems Analyst. Pull your degree transcripts and confirm your field matches information systems, computer science, or a directly related discipline before you apply.
Target companies with recent visa filings
Employers with recent visa filings for Systems Analyst roles have demonstrated experience with work visa sponsorship processes. Focusing your search on companies experienced with visa sponsorship increases the likelihood of finding employers who understand the TN requirements and can navigate the support letter process efficiently.
Request a support letter before your border crossing
Canadian applicants often assume they can proceed directly to the port of entry. Your employer must prepare a detailed support letter documenting your job offer, salary, and qualifications first. Arriving without this letter causes immediate delays and possible denial of admission.
Clarify contractor versus direct-hire arrangements early
CBP officers scrutinize third-party staffing placements for TN applicants. If you're placed at a client site through a staffing firm, confirm the TN petitioner is the end-client employer, not the staffing agency, to reduce RFE risk.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsorship roles
Not every Power BI Developer posting includes TN sponsorship details. Migrate Mate filters roles by verified sponsorship history so you apply only where employers have demonstrated willingness to support TN filings.
Prepare a detailed employment letter before the port interview
CBP requires a support letter outlining your job duties, qualifications, and wage. The letter must explicitly tie your Power BI work to the Systems Analyst category. Vague duty descriptions are the leading cause of TN denials at the border.
Power Bi Developer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Power BI Developer role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes, Power BI Developer positions typically qualify under the Systems Analyst TN category, which covers professionals who design and implement data and information systems. Your employer's support letter must explicitly describe duties tied to systems analysis, such as requirements gathering, data modeling, and BI solution architecture, rather than listing only tool names like Power BI or DAX.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for Power BI Developers?
TN visa sponsorship has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and no multi-month wait for USCIS adjudication. Canadian applicants can receive approval at the port of entry the same day. H-1B visa requires USCIS registration each spring with a roughly 25 percent selection rate, a cap-subject petition, and months of processing before you can start work.
What documents does a Canadian Power BI Developer need at the border?
You need an employer support letter detailing your Power BI Developer duties and wage, proof of your degree in a related field, and your Canadian passport. CBP officers may also request a job offer letter or professional resume. Missing any of these at the port of entry typically results in being turned away.
Where can I find Power BI Developer jobs that explicitly offer TN sponsorship?
Most job postings don't flag TN visa support separately from H-1B sponsorship. Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN-eligible professionals and filters roles by verified sponsorship history, letting you identify employers who have a track record of supporting TN filings for Systems Analyst positions rather than guessing from generic postings.
Can Mexican nationals use TN visa sponsorship for Power BI Developer roles the same way Canadians can?
Mexican nationals qualify for TN status under the same USMCA professional categories but must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than at the border. Processing is not same-day, and Mexico has a separate annual TN allocation. The employer writes a support letter detailing the role, qualifications, and TN eligibility, and the consular interview adds time to the overall sponsorship timeline.
