Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Restaurant Manager
Frame your credentials around operational scope
TN officers evaluate whether your role qualifies as a management-level position, not just a supervisory one. Document staffing authority, budget responsibility, and vendor contracts in your credential package before you start applying.
Target multi-unit and corporate restaurant groups
Independent restaurants rarely have the HR infrastructure to manage TN sponsorship paperwork. Chains and hospitality groups with dedicated HR teams are far more likely to have filed TN petitions before and understand the employer obligation.
Search verified TN sponsors through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Restaurant Manager roles by employers with active TN visa sponsorship history, so you're applying to operations already set up to support your petition rather than educating a hiring manager from scratch.
Get your offer letter language right before crossing
Canadian citizens applying at the port of entry need an offer letter that explicitly states your title, duties, full-time status, and that the role requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. A vague letter is the most common reason for a same-day denial.
Clarify your degree equivalency for management roles
If your hospitality or business credential is from a Mexican or Canadian institution, carry a credential evaluation from a NACES-member evaluator. CBP officers have broad discretion, and documented equivalency removes ambiguity about your qualifications.
Confirm your employer prepares support letter before you give notice
For Mexican nationals, the employer must prepare a support letter and you'll apply at a U.S. consulate. Confirm this documentation is being prepared in writing before resigning from your current role or booking travel.

Find Restaurant Manager JobsRestaurant Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Restaurant Manager role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, but the role must meet the TN definition of a management position, not a working supervisor title. The position needs to demonstrate authority over staff hiring and termination, operational budgets, and strategic direction. A title of Restaurant Manager alone is not sufficient; the duties described in your offer letter determine eligibility.
How does the TN visa compare to the H-1B for Restaurant Manager roles?
TN has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and can be approved at a port of entry the same day you apply. H-1B requires a lottery selection, an employer-filed petition months in advance, and approval before you can start work. For Canadian and Mexican restaurant managers, TN is substantially faster and more predictable than H-1B, assuming the role clearly qualifies.
Where can I find Restaurant Manager jobs that already support TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Restaurant Manager openings specifically by TN visa sponsorship, so you're connecting with employers who have already committed to supporting the petition. That cuts out the stage where you have to explain what TN is to a recruiter who has never filed one.
Can a Mexican citizen apply for TN status as a Restaurant Manager?
Yes, but Mexican nationals cannot self-petition at the border the way Canadians can. Your employer must file a TN petition with USCIS on your behalf, and the annual allocation for Mexican TN workers is capped at 5,500. Starting the employer-side filing process early is critical given these constraints.
What happens to my TN status if the restaurant closes or I change employers?
TN status is employer-specific, so a restaurant closure or job change means your current authorization no longer covers you for the new role. Your new employer must file a fresh TN petition, or you must re-apply at the border if you are Canadian. You should not begin work with the new employer until that new petition or entry is approved.
