Verify your credential matches the category
TN classification for this role hinges on your degree aligning with College and University Educator duties. A bachelor's in counseling, education, or a related field strengthens your case; a general business degree alone often triggers scrutiny at the port of entry.
Target institutions with active TN histories
Community colleges, state universities, and nonprofit higher-ed systems file TN support letters regularly. Filter your search to post-secondary employers rather than K-12 districts, whose Student Success roles frequently fall outside TN's College and University Educator category.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsorship-ready postings
Search Student Success Coordinator roles through Migrate Mate to surface employers already familiar with TN filing. This cuts the back-and-forth of educating HR teams about USMCA classifications from scratch during a live negotiation.
Prepare your Canadian or Mexican credential evaluation early
If your degree was earned outside the U.S. and Canada, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization before applying. CBP officers and consular officers can and do reject applications when foreign transcripts are unaccompanied by a recognized equivalency assessment.
Clarify TN status at each contract renewal
TN status is tied to your specific employer and job duties. If your institution restructures your role, renaming it Student Affairs Coordinator or Academic Coach, confirm the new title and duties still satisfy the College and University Educator definition before your next entry or extension.

Find Student Success Coordinator JobsStudent Success Coordinator TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Student Success Coordinator role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
It depends on the employer and the specific duties. TN classification applies to College and University Educator roles at post-secondary institutions. If your position involves academic advising, instructional support, or student coaching at a college or university, it typically qualifies. Roles at K-12 schools or in purely administrative functions without an educational advising component often do not.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Student Success Coordinator positions?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and no petition waiting period for Canadians entering at the port of entry. H-1B selection is lottery-based with an 85,000-slot annual cap, meaning most applicants wait at least a year. For Canadian citizens, TN is a faster and more predictable path to the same type of role.
Can I find Student Success Coordinator jobs with TN sponsorship on Migrate Mate?
Yes. Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface jobs where employers are open to TN visa sponsorship. Searching for Student Success Coordinator roles there lets you focus outreach on post-secondary institutions already familiar with USMCA classifications, rather than spending time screening employers who have never encountered a TN application.
What documentation do I need to support my TN application for this role?
You need a support letter from your employer on company letterhead describing your position, duties, and how they qualify under the College and University Educator category. You also need proof of citizenship (Canadian passport or Mexican passport with visa), your degree certificates or transcripts, and any credential evaluations if your credentials were issued outside North America.
Does my employer need to file anything with USCIS for my TN status?
For Canadian citizens, the employer provides a support letter but does not file a petition with USCIS. You present the letter and supporting documents directly to a CBP officer at a port of entry or preclearance site. For Mexican citizens, the employer must support a DS-160 application for consular processing, which does involve government review before entry.
