TN Visa Marketing Intern Jobs
Marketing Intern roles can qualify for TN visa sponsorship under the USMCA's Marketing category, but the position must involve substantive marketing work tied to a qualifying degree. Canadian citizens get same-day CBP approval at the border; Mexican citizens apply at a U.S. consulate. The role title and duties both need to align precisely with TN requirements.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Marketing Intern
Align your degree field with marketing duties
TN visa classification requires your bachelor's degree to directly support the job's marketing functions. A degree in a different field, even with marketing coursework, can trigger a CBP denial. Request a detailed offer letter that maps your specific degree to each core duty.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Internship programs at mid-size and large companies with dedicated HR immigration teams process TN applications more smoothly than startups handling their first visa sponsorship case. Look for employers with recent visa filings in other categories (H-1B visa, E-3 visa, or green card sponsorship) as a signal they have experience with work visa processes and may be equipped to support TN applications. These employers understand the documentation requirements and support letter preparation that TN sponsorship demands.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified sponsoring employers
Not every company advertising marketing internships will sponsor a TN visa. Migrate Mate filters roles by employers with recent visa filings, so you're not wasting applications on positions at companies without experience navigating work visa sponsorship.
Clarify the internship end date in your support letter
TN status is granted for the duration listed in your employer's support letter, up to three years. If your internship is six months, CBP will grant exactly that. Negotiate for the longest defensible period upfront to avoid an early extension filing.
Prepare a credential package before your first interview
CBP officers at the border adjudicate Canadian TN applications on the spot without advance petition filing. Have your sealed transcripts, degree certificate, and job offer letter ready before you accept any offer so approval isn't delayed waiting for documents.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before your start date
Some federal contractors and STEM OPT employers require E-Verify, and your TN status must be correctly reflected in the system. Confirm with HR that your employer's E-Verify account is active and that they'll enter your TN details within three business days of your start date.
Marketing Intern TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Marketing Intern role actually qualify for TN visa status?
It can, but the position has to clear two tests: the duties must fall within the TN Marketing category, and your degree must directly relate to those duties. Internship roles that mix administrative tasks with marketing work sometimes fail this test at the border. The offer letter's duty description is the document CBP scrutinizes most closely, so it needs to be specific and degree-aligned, not a generic internship job description.
How does TN compare to H-1B for a Marketing Intern position?
For a Marketing Intern role, TN has a significant structural advantage: there's no lottery, no cap for Canadians, and Canadian citizens can get same-day approval at a land port of entry. H-1B requires advance filing, a lottery selection in April, and a start date no earlier than October 1. An internship with a summer or fall start date is practically incompatible with the H-1B timeline for most applicants.
Can I search for Marketing Intern jobs that already offer TN sponsorship?
Yes, and that's the more efficient approach. Most general job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type, so you can't tell whether a company has recent visa filing experience or is encountering the sponsorship process for the first time. Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface roles where the employer has demonstrated experience with work visa sponsorship, which saves time and reduces the risk of pursuing positions that stall at the offer stage.
What happens to my TN status if the internship ends early or the employer cancels it?
Your TN status is tied to the specific employer and position listed in your approval. If the internship ends before the authorized period, your TN status is no longer valid and you have a grace period of up to 60 days to change status, depart the U.S., or secure a new TN. USCIS does not automatically extend grace periods, so act quickly if the role ends unexpectedly.
Does my employer need to file anything with USCIS for my TN visa?
For Canadian citizens, no USCIS filing is required. Your employer provides a support letter and you present it with your credentials at a CBP port of entry for same-day adjudication. Mexican citizens must go through consular processing with a visa application at a U.S. embassy. In both cases, Migrate Mate can help you identify which employers are already set up to handle the TN documentation process efficiently.
