INTRODUCTION
The Talent & Development Specialist supports workforce development initiatives through recruiting, onboarding, employee training, and organizational development programs. This position is responsible for managing recruiting activities, coordinating employee onboarding, administering training programs, supporting workforce planning efforts, and maintaining employee development systems. The role partners closely with leadership to ensure staffing and training initiatives align with company goals and operational needs.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage full-cycle recruiting activities including sourcing, screening, interviewing coordination, and employment offers.
- Maintain applicant pipelines, recruitment records, and workforce planning documentation.
- Build partnerships with schools, workforce agencies, and community organizations to support hiring initiatives.
- Attend job fairs and support employee referral programs and community outreach efforts.
- Coordinate and conduct new hire orientations and onboarding activities.
- Monitor onboarding progress and support early employee retention efforts.
- Assist with workforce forecasting and seasonal staffing needs.
- Develop, organize, and maintain employee training programs and materials.
- Coordinate training schedules and maintain training records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
- Administer and maintain the company Learning Management System (LMS).
- Identify employee skill gaps and support workforce development planning.
- Maintain skill matrices, succession planning records, and training documentation.
- Support leadership and supervisors with employee development initiatives.
- Promote employee wellness and preventative care initiatives.
- Assist with general Human Resources programs and administrative support functions.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend process improvements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge of recruiting practices, onboarding procedures, and adult learning principles.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with content creators such as Canva, iSpring Suite or AI tools.
- Experience working with HRIS systems (Paycom, UKG, Workday) and Learning Management Systems preferred.
- Ability to facilitate presentations and conduct employee training sessions.
- Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Education, Organizational Development, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in recruiting, employee training, HR support, or workforce development.
- Experience implementing employee training initiatives and onboarding programs preferred.
- Knowledge of Human Resources practices including recruiting, employee relations, and workforce development.
- Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR, SCP, or SPHR are preferred.
- Bilingual, English and Spanish, candidates encouraged to apply!
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday, standard business hours. Some evening and weekend hours may be required seasonally for recruiting events, training programs, or seasonal operational support.

Heartland Farms is located at 907 3rd Avenue Hancock, WI 54943 in Adams County near the border of Waushara County.
The facility is approximately:
- Less than 20-minutes from Bancroft, Coloma, or Plainfield.
- About 30 minutes from Adams, Almond, Necedah, Nekoosa, Wautoma, Westfield, or Wild Rose.
- About 35-40 minutes from Red Granite, Stevens Point, or Wisconsin Rapids.
