Training And Development Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a training and development in New York?
Most training and development roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in human resources, education, organizational development, or a related field. New York does not issue a state license specifically for training and development professionals, so candidates advance by earning recognized credentials such as the ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development or SHRM certifications. Building a portfolio of curriculum or e-learning samples is a strong differentiator in New York's competitive corporate market.
How much do training and developments make in New York?
Training and developments in New York earn a median of about $76,080 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $40,220 for the lowest 10% to over $133,620 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire training and developments in New York?
Employers hiring training and developments in New York right now include Columbia University, New York University, and Yeshiva University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of large financial institutions, hospital systems, and university networks means consistent openings for learning professionals at both the corporate and nonprofit level.
Which New York cities have the most training and development jobs?
New York, Bronx, and Brooklyn have the most training and development openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its density of corporate headquarters, major hospital networks, and financial services firms, while Albany draws openings from state government agencies and higher education institutions, and Buffalo's growing healthcare and manufacturing sectors generate consistent demand for workplace learning professionals.
Are there remote training and development jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many fields. Training and development work that centers on e-learning design, curriculum development, and virtual facilitation translates well to remote settings. About 20% of training and development openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly New York employers have adopted flexible arrangements for learning roles. Roles focused on in-person facilitation or onboarding at physical sites tend to remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a training and development in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to apply for instructional design coordinator, training specialist, or HR associate roles within large New York employers such as hospital systems, financial firms, or city and state government agencies, which regularly hire candidates with a relevant degree and no direct training experience. Building a portfolio of sample training materials or a completed e-learning module is often more persuasive than work history alone. Earning an ATD certificate or completing an SHRM learning program also signals readiness to New York hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to training and development jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to training and development jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings from employers across the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
