Interventional Specialist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become an interventional specialist in New York?
Becoming an interventional specialist in New York requires completing an accredited radiologic technology or cardiovascular technology program followed by certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. New York State requires radiologic technologists to hold a license issued by the New York State Department of Health Bureau of Environmental Radiation Protection. From there, most candidates pursue additional training in an interventional or cardiovascular specialty and apply to positions at New York hospital systems or academic medical centers.
How much do interventional specialists make in New York?
Interventional specialists in New York earn a median of about $441,580 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,760 for the lowest 10% to over $544,890 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire interventional specialists in New York?
Employers hiring interventional specialists in New York right now include YAI - Seeing Beyond Disability, United Health Services, and Auburn Community Hospital, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's large academic medical centers and integrated health systems generate the most consistent volume of openings, particularly in the New York City metro area.
Which New York cities have the most interventional specialist jobs?
Brooklyn, Bronx, and Johnson City have the most interventional specialist openings in New York. New York City leads because of the concentration of major hospital systems and academic medical centers there, while Buffalo and Albany reflect strong regional health system demand anchored by institutions like Kaleida Health and Albany Medical Center.
Are there remote interventional specialist jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Interventional specialist work is inherently hands-on and procedure-based, so most roles require on-site presence in a cath lab, interventional suite, or hospital department. About 6% of interventional specialist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions typically involve scheduling coordination, clinical education, or sales support rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as an interventional specialist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a radiologic technology program and obtaining your New York State Department of Health license, then applying to general radiology technologist roles at large New York health systems like Northwell Health or NewYork-Presbyterian, which regularly onboard new graduates. Many of these systems offer structured rotations or training programs that expose new hires to interventional suites. Moving from a general rad tech or cardiac cath lab assistant role is the most common lateral move that opens the door to a full interventional specialist position.
Where can I find and apply to interventional specialist jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to interventional specialist jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and location, and apply directly to the employer.
