About Rag & Bone
From our origins in New York in 2002, rag & bone was founded on a belief of uncompromising ideals: a commitment to doing things the right way, not the easy way. To making things that are as original as they are timeless. To being true to ourselves, even when that truth sets us apart from the mainstream. We still believe in the same principles we started with: the easy elegance of classic British tailoring, the authenticity of American workwear, and the originality of our home city, New York. As New Yorkers, community and authenticity have become synonymous with our brand. An inclusive environment at rag & bone upholds our original values by encouraging employee connection and empowering each individual to have a voice on policy, process and collaboration for a more equitable future.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Manager, Benefits & Total Rewards to join our People Team at rag & bone. This is a hands-on role that owns the daily operations of our benefits programs from end to end, executing them flawlessly across every stage of the associate lifecycle — from onboarding and enrollment through leaves of absence, life events, and offboarding. This role is responsible for configuring plans in our systems, partnering directly with carriers and brokers to resolve escalations, building and managing the open enrollment timeline, and running the numbers on plan costs and utilization. This role will also be the go-to resource for associates across the organization, ensuring that deadlines are met, deductions are accurate, compliance requirements are met, and associates get clear, correct answers fast. This role requires equal parts operational discipline and people-first communication, as you'll be balancing the technical demands of benefits administration with the day-to-day experience of associates navigating their benefits, leaves, and wellness needs.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and administer health and welfare programs including negotiating with insurance carriers and vendors, managing the broker and vendor relationships, overseeing annual renewals and open enrollment, developing cost analysis and annual recommendations for health and welfare benefit plans and premiums, and developing processes and controls
- Manage the leave administration and reasonable accommodation life cycle starting with employee intakes, compliant documentation, People Operations processing, identifying business coverage needs, and all internal/external communications
- Responsible for ongoing education of benefit and wellness offerings in addition to managing all employee inquiries and connecting dots to identify areas of improvement and/or continuing education
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations which affect employee pay and benefits including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, ACA, ARPA, HIPPA, in addition to all regulatory (federal, state, local) paid family leaves
- Oversee compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) including 1094/1095-C reporting, filing, and employee communications requirements
- Assist with data analysis for administration, annual 5500 preparation, audits, annual disclosure reporting requirements, and non-discrimination testing
- Ensure compliance, administration, and monthly auditing of various employee benefit plans; including, but not limited to health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, flexible spending, and voluntary products
- Plan, design, implement and administer a comprehensive rewards strategy including programs for wellness, recognition, and work/life effectiveness
- Contribute to the development and improvement of performance management systems and processes including annual goal setting and performance evaluations
- Monitor workers’ compensation claims and metrics. Identify and initiate programs to drive employee safety programs to reduce workers’ compensation expenses
- Evaluate competitive practices and positioning relative to the market and make recommendations to ensure our compensation and benefits plans are attractive
- Drive continuous improvement, creating better workflow, eliminating errors and inefficiencies and standardizing processes as they relate to benefits
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in Human Resources and Benefits
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification, PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in Total Rewards (Benefits, Wellness, Recognition)
- Comprehensive working knowledge of Legal Compliance including FMLA/Paid Family Leave, Health Care Reform Act, ERISA & Section 125, HIPPA, FLSA, ADA, COBRA, reasonable accommodations, etc
- Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work with competing demands
- Exceptional attention to detail & accuracy
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to resolve problems using independent judgement that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation, or law

Senior Total Rewards Specialist Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior total rewards specialist in New York?
The most reliable path is a bachelor's degree in human resources, finance, or business, followed by several years in compensation analysis, benefits administration, or a generalist HR role. New York does not require a state-issued license for this role, but employers across financial services, healthcare, and professional services strongly favor the Certified Compensation Professional credential from WorldatWork or the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist designation from CEBS. Building experience with equity plans or executive pay gives candidates a competitive edge in New York City's finance-heavy market.
Which companies hire senior total rewards specialists in New York?
Employers hiring senior total rewards specialists in New York right now include SiriusXM, BlackRock, and rag & bone, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New York City's concentration of global financial institutions, major hospital networks, and Fortune 500 headquarters makes it one of the most active markets in the country for this role.
Which New York cities have the most senior total rewards specialist jobs?
The cities with the most senior total rewards specialist openings in New York are New York, Bronx, and Tarrytown. New York City accounts for the large majority of listings, driven by its density of global banks, insurance carriers, and multinational headquarters, while White Plains and Buffalo attract openings tied to regional corporate offices and large healthcare systems that maintain dedicated compensation and benefits teams.
Are there remote senior total rewards specialist jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields, since total rewards work is analytical and document-driven rather than requiring a physical presence. About 50% of senior total rewards specialist openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the flexibility many New York employers now offer for this function. Benefits plan administration and compensation benchmarking work are the sub-areas most likely to be performed fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a senior total rewards specialist in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a compensation analyst or benefits analyst role at a large New York employer, then building toward the senior specialist level over time. Hospital systems like Northwell Health and NYC Health + Hospitals, as well as major banks and insurers headquartered in New York City, regularly hire entry-level HR analysts and rotate them through compensation and benefits functions. Earning the Certified Compensation Professional credential while working in a junior role signals commitment and shortens the timeline to senior-level consideration.
