Junior Analyst Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a junior analyst in New York?
Most junior analyst positions in New York require a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a quantitative field. There is no state-issued license specific to the analyst role, but candidates targeting financial services should be aware that certain positions require FINRA registrations such as the Series 63 or Series 7, overseen by FINRA and coordinated through a sponsoring employer once hired. Building proficiency in Excel, SQL, and a visualization tool strengthens any New York application considerably.
Which companies hire junior analysts in New York?
Employers hiring junior analysts in New York right now include New York University, City of New York, and EVERCORE, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of financial institutions, consulting firms, and large hospital systems means junior analyst demand is broad and consistent across multiple industries.
Which New York cities have the most junior analyst jobs?
New York, Fairport, and Manhattan have the most junior analyst openings in New York. New York City dominates because it is the headquarters base for the country's largest financial institutions and consulting firms, while Albany and Buffalo draw openings from state government agencies, regional banks, and healthcare systems that maintain significant back-office and analytical operations outside the metro.
Are there remote junior analyst jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 21% of junior analyst openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how well data and analytical work translates to distributed teams. Roles focused on financial modeling, reporting, and business intelligence tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while positions requiring regular client-site presence or in-person collaboration are more likely to be fully on-site.
How can I get hired as a junior analyst in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a rotational analyst program at a large New York employer. Firms such as JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Deloitte run structured new-graduate analyst cohorts that start every summer and require no prior professional experience beyond the degree. Adjacent roles like financial operations associate, research assistant, or data coordinator at New York regional banks or hospital systems are also common entry points. A demonstrated Excel or SQL project, even from coursework, gives candidates a meaningful edge at the application stage.
Where can I find and apply to junior analyst jobs in New York?
