We are looking for a motivated Entry-Level Computer Technician / Shop Assistant to join our team. This is a hands-on learning role ideal for someone with a genuine passion for PC hardware who wants to build a career in professional computer repair under the guidance of experienced technicians.
Job Responsibilities
- Intake & Bench Prep: Assist with receiving customer equipment, documenting initial symptoms, logging details into our store management system (RepairShopr), and performing preliminary external checks.
- Refurbishment & Testing: Clean, wipe, and test incoming hardware, run basic diagnostic passes, and help prep used systems for retail resale.
- Basic Repairs & Upgrades: Perform entry-level hardware tasks such as installing RAM, swapping out solid-state drives (SSDs), cleaning dust from heatsinks/fans, and replacing standard power supplies or laptop batteries.
- OS Installs & Updates: Assist with clean operating system installations, driver updates, and software configuration.
- Shop Upkeep: Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe workbench and retail floor, including handling electronics drop-off and recycling sorting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Passion for Tech: A genuine, demonstrated interest in computer hardware, PC building, and troubleshooting (personal hobbyist or home-lab building experience counts!).
- Foundational Knowledge: Basic understanding of PC components (CPUs, motherboards, RAM, storage drives) and familiarity with Windows (10/11).
- Hands-On Aptitude: Comfortable using basic hand tools and working carefully with delicate electronic components.
- Strong Work Ethic: Eagerness to learn, attention to detail, and a willingness to handle both high-tech bench work and routine shop tasks.
- Customer-Friendly: Reliable, polite, and professional communication skills for interacting with customers at the front counter.
