Risk Management Specialist Jobs in Colorado: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a risk management specialist in Colorado?
Most Colorado employers require at least a bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field as the starting point. Colorado does not issue a state-specific license for risk management specialists, but nationally recognized credentials such as the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) from GARP or the Professional Risk Manager (PRM) from PRMIA carry strong weight with Colorado hiring managers, particularly in financial services, healthcare systems, and defense contracting.
How much do risk management specialists make in Colorado?
Risk management specialists in Colorado earn a median of about $120,300 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,460 for the lowest 10% to over $174,770 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire risk management specialists in Colorado?
Employers hiring risk management specialists in Colorado right now include AdventHealth Porter, SAIC, and EchoStar, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Colorado's concentration of financial institutions, healthcare networks, and federal defense contractors creates steady demand across Denver, Colorado Springs, and the Front Range corridor.
Which Colorado cities have the most risk management specialist jobs?
Greenwood Village, Colorado, and Denver have the most risk management specialist openings in Colorado. Denver dominates because it anchors the state's financial services, healthcare, and technology sectors, while Colorado Springs draws consistent demand from defense and federal government contractors, and Boulder's growing biotech and clean energy firms add a smaller but steady pipeline of risk-focused roles.
Are there remote risk management specialist jobs in Colorado?
Yes, and more than many comparable fields, because risk management work is largely analytical and documentation-driven rather than hands-on. About 43% of risk management specialist openings tied to Colorado are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed teams. Enterprise risk, operational risk analysis, and compliance monitoring roles are the most consistently remote-eligible specialties.
How can I get hired as a risk management specialist in Colorado with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a lateral move from a closely adjacent role such as compliance analyst, audit associate, or insurance underwriter, which Colorado's large financial institutions and healthcare systems hire in volume. Employers including major Denver-area banks, credit unions, and hospital networks regularly bring in candidates from audit or compliance backgrounds. Earning an entry-level certification such as the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) through The Institutes or completing a finance or business degree with a risk focus at a Colorado university significantly strengthens early applications.
Where can I find and apply to risk management specialist jobs in Colorado?
You can find and apply to risk management specialist jobs in Colorado on Migrate Mate, which lists current Colorado openings across industries and experience levels. Find a role that fits and apply directly to the employer from the listing.
