Risk Management Specialist Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a risk management specialist in Texas?
Most risk management specialist roles in Texas start with a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field. Texas does not require a state-issued license to work in this role, but employers consistently favor candidates who hold the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) credential from the American Institute for CPCU or the Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation from the National Alliance, both widely recognized by Texas insurers, energy firms, and financial institutions.
How much do risk management specialists make in Texas?
Risk management specialists in Texas earn a median of about $103,760 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $64,250 for the lowest 10% to over $159,220 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire risk management specialists in Texas?
Employers hiring risk management specialists in Texas right now include Texas Health and Human Services Commission, Amazon, and Celanese, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of energy companies, regional and national banks, and large insurance carriers like USAA means demand for this role stays consistent year-round across the state.
Which Texas cities have the most risk management specialist jobs?
Austin, Houston, and Dallas have the most risk management specialist openings in Texas. Houston leads because of its dense concentration of energy companies and financial institutions, Dallas follows with a large base of corporate headquarters and insurance carriers, and Austin's growing fintech and technology sector has added steady demand for risk and compliance professionals over recent years.
Are there remote risk management specialist jobs in Texas?
Yes, and they're more common than in many fields, since the core work is analytical and documentation-focused rather than on-site. About 15% of risk management specialist openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted flexible arrangements for this role. Enterprise risk analysis, policy review, and compliance monitoring are the functions most consistently offered on a remote or hybrid basis.
How can I get hired as a risk management specialist in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a risk analyst or compliance analyst role, which large Texas employers in banking and insurance regularly fill with recent graduates. JPMorgan Chase and USAA both run structured early-career programs at their Texas operations that place candidates into risk and compliance tracks. A bachelor's degree paired with the ARM designation or progress toward the CRM credential gives entry-level candidates a concrete edge, and lateral moves from audit, underwriting, or financial analysis roles are common stepping stones into risk management in Texas.
Where can I find and apply to risk management specialist jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to risk management specialist jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across Houston, Dallas, Austin, and other markets statewide. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty and apply directly through each listing.
