Junior Analyst Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a junior analyst in Illinois?
Most Illinois employers hire junior analysts directly from four-year programs in finance, economics, statistics, or business administration at Illinois universities such as the University of Illinois, DePaul, or Loyola Chicago. No state-issued license is required for the general junior analyst role. Candidates strengthen their applications with the Bloomberg Market Concepts certification, the CFA Level I exam, or a completed internship with a Chicago-area firm, bank, or consulting practice.
Which companies hire junior analysts in Illinois?
Companies currently hiring junior analysts in Illinois include Valvoline Instant Oil Change, Sterling Labs, and Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's concentration of financial headquarters, Big Four consulting offices, and major healthcare systems in the Chicago metro creates consistent junior analyst demand across multiple industries throughout the year.
Which Illinois cities have the most junior analyst jobs?
The cities with the most junior analyst openings in Illinois are Chicago, Des Plaines, and Downers Grove. Chicago dominates because it anchors the Midwest's financial services and consulting sectors, while suburban areas like Schaumburg and Lisle draw demand from Fortune 500 corporate headquarters, and downstate cities like Peoria reflect Caterpillar's and OSF HealthCare's large back-office and operations analyst needs.
Are there remote junior analyst jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 29% of junior analyst openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how central spreadsheet work, data modeling, and reporting are to the role. Financial data analysis and business intelligence functions tend to be the most remote-accessible specialties, while roles tied to on-site operations or client-facing consulting typically require in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a junior analyst in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to rotational analyst programs that large Illinois employers run for recent graduates, including Morningstar's entry-level research associate track, Deloitte's Chicago campus recruiting pipeline, and analyst development programs at major Illinois health systems like Northwestern Medicine and Advocate Health. Candidates transitioning from adjacent roles such as data entry specialist, research assistant, or financial operations associate are regularly considered. A completed Excel or Tableau certification, a senior capstone project with real data, or a portfolio of independent analysis work gives applicants a meaningful edge when formal experience is limited.
