Overview
The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all carpet cleaning machines and related components meet established quality standards, performance specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role supports manufacturing operations by conducting inspections, identifying defects, and driving continuous improvement in product quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on components, subassemblies, and finished carpet cleaning machines
- Verify conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and test procedures
- Conduct functional testing of machines, including:
- Pump performance and pressure consistency
- Electrical system functionality
- Fluid flow and leak detection
- Safety features and compliance checks
- Identify, document, and report non-conforming materials (NCMs) and defects
- Initiate and support root cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA)
- Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues
- Participate in first article inspections (FAI) and new product introductions (NPI)
- Audit supplier parts and support supplier quality initiatives when required
- Ensure compliance with internal quality systems and external standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred
- 2–5 years of QA inspection experience in manufacturing or electromechanical assembly
- Experience with cleaning equipment, pumps, motors, or similar machinery is a plus
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Familiarity with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, multimeters, pressure gauges)
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma)
- Basic computer skills (ERP systems, Excel, quality reporting tools)
Key Performance Metrics
- First-pass yield (FPY)
- Defect rate / parts per million (PPM)
- Rework and scrap reduction
- Inspection cycle time
- Supplier quality performance (if applicable)
Work Environment
- Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to mechanical assembly operations
- May require standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 lbs
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
WORK SCHEDULE: Work schedule is as follows. Monday through Thursday, 6:00am to 4:30pm. This is an alternative work schedule. 10 hours a day, 4 days a week with Fridays off. Unless the company deems it necessary to change the work week schedule. Advanced notice will be given.
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
