Which staffing companies sponsor H-1B visas in California?
Several large national staffing firms with California operations have a history of filing H-1B petitions, including Kforce, Apex Group, Staffmark, Insight Global, and TEKsystems. Many of these companies place contractors and direct hires at major technology, healthcare, and financial services employers across the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and San Diego. H-1B sponsorship decisions are made on a per-placement basis, so availability varies by role and end client.
Which cities in California have the most staffing H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose and Oakland, leads California for staffing H-1B activity, driven by demand from technology companies in Silicon Valley. Los Angeles is the second major hub, with staffing firms active in entertainment, healthcare, and finance. San Diego has a notable concentration in biotech and life sciences staffing. Sacramento sees activity in government IT and healthcare staffing.
What types of staffing roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in staffing is generally limited to specialty occupation roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In California, qualifying roles placed by staffing agencies commonly include software engineers, data analysts, IT project managers, financial analysts, clinical research associates, and healthcare administrators. General administrative, light industrial, or sales staffing roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation threshold required for H-1B petitions.
How do I find staffing H-1B sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters job listings by visa sponsorship type, including H-1B, so you can search staffing roles in California without sifting through listings that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and industry to surface staffing and recruiting positions with confirmed H-1B sponsorship history. This saves significant time compared to reviewing general job postings with no sponsorship information.
Are there any California-specific considerations for H-1B staffing jobs?
California's strong worker protection laws mean staffing agencies operating in the state must comply with state-level wage and hour requirements in addition to the federal prevailing wage obligations tied to the H-1B. For staffing placements, the worksite location listed on the Labor Condition Application matters because California's cost of labor is high, which affects the prevailing wage calculation. Candidates should also be aware that H-1B portability rules apply when moving between staffing engagements.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B staffing jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
