- Partner with Apollo and leaders across Investments, Actuarial, Finance, Risk, Treasury, and Corporate Development to shape strategic ALM initiatives, hedging strategies, strategic asset allocation, and capital markets assumptions, bringing disciplined analysis and effective challenge to cross functional decisions.
- Evaluate assignments across strategic asset allocation, pricing, portfolio mandates, and entity level ALM objectives considering U.S and Bermuda regulatory, reserving, capital, liquidity, and cash flow testing implications and identifying emerging risks, trade-offs, and opportunities requiring management attention.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor and trusted delegate to the VP, ALM, delivering timely analysis on market developments, interest rate exposures, transaction activity, regulatory matters, and other business critical issues and communicating recommendations to senior management, governance committees, asset managers and regulators.
- Advance ALM analytics, reporting, and decision support capabilities by establishing authoritative reporting sources, reconciling results across systems and methodologies, resolving material inconsistencies, and applying automation and AI-enabled tools appropriately while maintaining strong governance, validation, controls and independent judgment.

- 4+ years of formal or informal leadership preferred, including demonstrated technical and project leadership across complex, multidisciplinary initiatives and the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive alignment without direct authority.
- Expertise in ALM principles, fixed income assets, insurance liabilities, derivatives, financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and key-rate risk, with familiarity across relevant U.S. and Bermuda regulatory, reserving, and capital frameworks.
- Strong critical-thinking, quantitative, problem solving, organizational and communication capabilities, with advanced Excel skills required; experience with Python, SQL, data visualization, or similar analytical tools preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to act like an owner and make it happen by working with urgency, adapting to changing conditions, constructively challenging assumptions, collaborating across Athene and Apollo, and using innovation and AI-enabled tools appropriately to improve analysis and decision-making.

Which insurance companies sponsor H-1B visas in California?
Several large insurers with significant California operations have filed H-1B visa petitions, including Farmers Insurance, Zenith Insurance, Pacific Life, and global carriers like AIG and Zurich North America. Regional insurers and InsurTech companies concentrated in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also file petitions, particularly for actuarial, data science, and technology roles. DOL LCA disclosure data is publicly searchable and shows historical sponsorship filings by employer.
Which cities in California have the most insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles is the largest hub, home to Farmers Insurance headquarters and numerous specialty and surplus lines carriers. San Francisco and the broader Bay Area attract InsurTech companies and analytics-focused roles. Sacramento has a concentration of workers' compensation and government-adjacent insurance employers. San Diego and Woodland Hills also have notable insurance employer presences with documented H-1B filings.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship applies to specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In insurance, this commonly includes actuaries, data scientists, financial analysts, underwriters with quantitative backgrounds, risk analysts, and software engineers working on insurance platforms. General claims adjuster or customer service roles typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B eligibility.
How do I find insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter jobs by visa type, state, and industry to surface insurance roles in California where employers have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing job postings and researching each employer's sponsorship history. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on roles relevant to international candidates seeking work authorization.
Are there any California-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in insurance?
California's strict employee classification laws and wage regulations can affect how employers structure H-1B positions, since the prevailing wage filed on the Labor Condition Application must meet both federal and state wage requirements. California also has a large InsurTech sector governed partly by the California Department of Insurance, which can influence the types of specialized roles employers need to hire and sponsor. Consulting an immigration attorney familiar with California employment law is advisable before accepting an offer.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B insurance jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
