Our team of four works closely together and brings a lot of energy, drive, and pride into what we do each day.
We stay actively involved in the community through local schools, Special Olympics, high school sports, and supporting women-owned businesses. Which insurance companies sponsor H-1B visas in Alaska?
Premera Blue Cross, which maintains a significant presence in Anchorage, has filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for professional roles in Alaska. National carriers with Alaska offices, including State Farm and Farmers Insurance, have also sponsored H-1B workers. Larger multiline carriers are generally more likely to sponsor than small independent agencies, which typically lack the HR infrastructure to manage the petition process.
Which cities in Alaska have the most insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Anchorage accounts for the overwhelming majority of insurance H-1B sponsorship activity in Alaska. It is home to the state's largest concentration of insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and benefits consultants. Fairbanks has a smaller but active insurance market. Outside these two cities, the industry is largely served by independent agents and small regional offices where H-1B sponsorship is uncommon.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules. In insurance, this typically includes actuaries, statistical analysts, underwriters, risk managers, claims analysts, and compliance officers. General sales agent or customer service positions usually do not qualify because they do not require a degree in a specific discipline. A position's official job description and minimum education requirement are what USCIS evaluates.
How do I find insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs in Alaska?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (H-1B), industry (insurance), and state (Alaska) to see verified sponsorship-eligible listings in one place. Alaska's insurance market is smaller than most states, so setting up job alerts on Migrate Mate for new postings is a practical way to stay current. Focusing applications on Anchorage-based employers with established HR teams improves your chances of finding genuine sponsorship.
Are there any Alaska-specific considerations for H-1B insurance jobs?
Alaska's insurance industry is shaped by industries that are uncommon elsewhere, including commercial fishing, oil and gas extraction, and aviation, which creates demand for specialists in marine cargo, energy liability, and aviation risk. The state's small overall market means fewer total H-1B sponsorship opportunities compared to lower-48 hubs. Employers filing LCAs in Alaska must meet the prevailing wage for the Anchorage or Fairbanks metropolitan areas, as determined by Department of Labor wage surveys.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B insurance jobs in Alaska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
