Which insurance companies in Oregon sponsor H-1B visas?
Oregon's largest H-1B visa sponsors in insurance include Regence BlueCross BlueShield, Cambia Health Solutions, and PEMCO Insurance, all headquartered in Portland. National carriers with Oregon operations, such as State Farm, Nationwide, and Zurich, have also filed H-1B petitions for roles in the state. Sponsorship activity is most consistent at larger companies with established HR and legal infrastructure.
Which cities in Oregon have the most insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the overwhelming majority of insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs in Oregon. The city hosts the headquarters of Regence BlueCross BlueShield and Cambia Health Solutions, along with regional offices for national insurers. Salem and Eugene have smaller insurance employment bases, primarily in claims and customer operations, where H-1B sponsorship is less common.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Oregon?
Roles that typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field tied directly to the position. In Oregon's insurance sector, this includes actuaries, data scientists, software engineers, financial analysts, and compliance officers. General claims adjusters or customer service representatives are less likely to qualify, as those roles don't consistently require a degree in a specific specialty field.
How do I find insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type and industry, making it straightforward to browse insurance H-1B jobs in Oregon without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state, visa category, and industry to surface roles at Oregon-based insurers and national carriers with Oregon offices. This saves significant time compared to reviewing unfiltered job postings.
Are there state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Oregon's insurance industry?
Oregon requires insurance professionals in certain licensed roles to hold a state-issued license, which is separate from H-1B visa status and must be obtained independently. H-1B holders are work-authorized and eligible to apply for Oregon insurance licenses. Employers in Oregon's health insurance sector also operate under state insurance division oversight, which can shape which specialized roles they prioritize hiring and sponsoring for.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B insurance jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
