About the Role
We are looking for an L5A Senior iOS Engineer to build and own earner-facing iOS experiences for fleets. You will:
- Ship high-impact features for fleet earners (couriers, mobility drivers, AV fleet operators)
- Translate the FleetHub vision into intuitive iOS workflows that help fleet earners manage shifts, zones, earnings, and performance while collaborating with fleet managers and operations teams.
- Implement bespoke, fleet-specific flows for Courier, Mobility, and AV fleets while leveraging shared mobile platform components and patterns.
This is a hands-on senior IC role: you will lead projects end-to-end on iOS, contribute to architecture, and mentor other engineers, while partnering closely with Android, backend, product, design, and ops.
What you will do:
Build fleet earner experiences on iOS
- Design, build, and maintain iOS features for fleet earners across courier, mobility, and AV fleets - from onboarding to daily operations and performance management.
- Own end-to-end flows that help fleet earners:
- Understand and plan shifts & breaks
- Navigate zones and positioning recommendations
- Interact with depot and field support operations
- Track earnings and performance in a fleet context
Bring the FleetHub model to life in the iOS app
- Implement iOS features that sit on top of Fleet Foundations and Fleet Management Core Modules (onboarding, performance, incentives, command center, earnings).
- Surface Fleet Intelligence (demand-aware shift and positioning recommendations) in ways that are understandable and actionable for earners and fleet managers.
Contribute to mobile architecture and platformization
- Apply and extend Uber's mobile architecture patterns (e.g., RIBs, shared platform components) so Fleet surfaces are modular, testable, and reusable across vertical teams.
- Collaborate with Android and backend engineers to clearly separate platform vs. module responsibilities in line with the Dec 2026 FleetHub modular vision (foundations platform + vertical modules, clear contribution and on-call ownership).
Partner across Fleets, Vehicle, AV, and Earner teams
- Work closely with PM, Design, Ops, AV, and data partners to turn complex fleet requirements and regulations into simple, reliable iOS experiences.
- Ensure fleet iOS features integrate correctly with vehicle & AV platforms (Connected Vehicle, Vehicle Issues, AV tooling, Live Map, Mission Control, etc.).
Drive quality and mentor others
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable Swift code, participate in design and code reviews, and help raise the bar on performance, reliability, and observability for mobile features used for hours every day by earners.
- Mentor junior and mid-level iOS engineers through design discussions, pairing, and review feedback; contribute to a culture of learning and engineering excellence.
Basic Qualifications
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience building and shipping iOS applications using Swift and/or Objective-C.
- Strong understanding of iOS frameworks, app architecture, and mobile design patterns, with experience shipping and maintaining large-scale consumer-facing apps.
- Proven ability to own features end-to-end: from technical design and implementation through experimentation, rollout, and production support.
- Experience collaborating in cross-functional environments with Product, Design, Backend, and Data partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with platformized mobile architectures (shared modules, internal libraries, or mobile SDKs used across teams).
- Exposure to accessibility, localization, and experimentation on mobile (A/B tests, metrics-driven iteration).
Compensation
- For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$202,000 per year - USD$224,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits. More details can be found at the following link https://jobs.uber.com/en/benefits.

Which companies sponsor visas for iOS engineers in California?
Apple, Google, Meta, Snap, Lyft, and Salesforce are among the California-based companies with consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for iOS engineers, based on Department of Labor LCA disclosure data. Startups in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also sponsor, though less predictably than large tech employers. Checking a company's past LCA filings is a reliable way to gauge sponsorship willingness before applying.
Which visa types are most common for iOS engineer roles in California?
The H-1B is the most common visa for iOS engineers in California. It requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science or software engineering, and the employer must file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. Australian citizens working in iOS roles may also qualify for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and can be faster to obtain.
Which cities in California have the most iOS engineer sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and the broader Bay Area, including San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino, account for the largest share of iOS engineer sponsorship roles in California. Los Angeles is a growing secondary hub, particularly for consumer apps, entertainment tech, and gaming companies. San Diego has a smaller but active presence, driven by mobile health and defense-adjacent tech employers.
How to find ios engineer visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters iOS engineer jobs in California specifically to roles where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to positions that won't support international candidates. You can search by city, company size, and visa type to narrow results to your situation. Migrate Mate is built for international job seekers, so every listing is screened with sponsorship in mind.
Are there state-specific factors iOS engineers should know when pursuing sponsorship in California?
California's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B roles are set at the county level and tend to be higher than national averages, reflecting the state's cost of living. Employers filing LCAs for iOS engineers in San Francisco or San Jose are required to meet these higher wage tiers. California also has a strong university pipeline from UC Berkeley, Stanford, and UCLA that feeds iOS talent into sponsoring companies, increasing competition for open roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ios engineer jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
