ROLE
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT Engineer to design, develop, and support the infrastructure that enables IT equipment across global offices and laboratory environments. This role will work closely with Facilities, Business Stakeholders, Network Engineering, Hardware Engineering, and Audiovisual (AV) teams to design, deploy, and maintain low-voltage infrastructure and network room environments. The IT Engineer will provide technical leadership for infrastructure planning, construction coordination, design standards, regional deployments, and ongoing operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Low-Voltage Design for Office & Laboratory Builds
- Partner with Facilities teams and business stakeholders to define project requirements and develop rough-order-of-magnitude (ROM) estimates, bills of materials (BOMs), and cost projections.
- Serve as the technical stakeholder for low-voltage contractor bidding, evaluation, and selection.
- Define equipment placement within network rooms, including security systems, building automation systems, network racks, and service-provider demarcation areas.
- Gather infrastructure requirements from Network Engineering and Audiovisual Engineering teams.
- Develop deployment specifications, design requirements, and construction documentation for low-voltage contractors.
- Conduct regular site walks and physical inspections, provide project feedback, and monitor construction progress.
- Complete project closeout documentation and transition completed environments to operational teams.
Regional Network Room Engineering & Leadership
- Track capacity utilization for network ports, fiber infrastructure, and power distribution outlets.
- Support equipment installation, rack integration, and structured cabling activities.
- Configure and connect intelligent PDUs and UPS systems.
- Monitor rack-level and facility-level power utilization and capacity.
- Maintain accurate network room and asset documentation using NetBox and Nautobot.
- Perform infrastructure audits to validate asset accuracy and assess the impact of power events, maintenance activities, and infrastructure changes.
Infrastructure Standards & Architecture
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve low-voltage infrastructure standards and design practices.
- Develop technology roadmaps that support future infrastructure growth and regional expansion.
- Improve collaboration workflows and drive automation initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
- Define metrics, KPIs, and success criteria to measure deployment quality and project outcomes.
- Establish consistent infrastructure practices across regional deployments.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- 10+ years of experience in telecommunications consulting, construction project management, low-voltage infrastructure, or related disciplines.
- Strong understanding of network architectures, infrastructure components, and network room environments.
- Ability to work onsite several days per week and perform physical inspections within network rooms and infrastructure environments.
- Ability to work independently with limited direction and supervision.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership in challenging and dynamic environments.
- Strong project management, organizational, and coordination skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with global teams across multiple time zones.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 15+ years of related industry experience.
- RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification.
