As part of a cross-functional team, you’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, stakeholders, and end users to define requirements and rapidly move from idea to prototype using Figma (including prototyping) and modern AI-enabled design tools.
If this sounds like the right role, please submit a resume along with a link to a portfolio showcasing product application design.

- Show curiosity and drive in adopting new AI tools and workflows (including integrations) to accelerate iteration and move from idea to prototype quickly.
- Create clear specifications, annotations, and acceptance criteria to support developer handoff, including front-end behaviors and high-level back-end requirements (data, integrations, and system rules).
- Design for complex integrations and ensure solutions are feasible, scalable, and consistent, backed by strong information architecture and systems thinking.
- Demonstrate the ability to think independently and collaborate with cross functional team members to develop and refine internal processes and ensure efficiency across workflows.
- Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability tests) to inform design decisions.
- Translate complex business needs into intuitive, step-by-step user experiences and functional UI requirements, including rules, validations, calculations, and edge cases.
- Build and maintain design systems and reusable components to ensure visual consistency.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure pixel-perfect implementation and responsive design.
- Iterate on feedback from users, stakeholders, and team members.
- Advocate for best practices in accessibility, design systems, and interaction design.
- Analyze usage data and conduct testing to continuously improve the product experience, including data-heavy screens (charts, graphs, dashboards, and reporting workflows).
QUALIFICATIONS
- 7+ years of experience in UI/UX, product design, or similar roles.
- Strong portfolio showcasing user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and final products.
- B2B product experience designing workflow-driven applications where clarity, efficiency, and accuracy matter.
- Experience designing for both desktop and mobile applications, including experiences with complex integrations and multi-step processes.
- Proficient in Figma, including interactive prototyping, and comfortable using modern AI-enabled design tools to document, communicate, and iterate on designs and requirements.
- Experience working with design systems and component libraries.
- Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to simplify complex problems into usable, elegant experiences.
- Solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, data visualizations, and responsive design.
- Experience designing data-heavy UX (analytics, dashboards, charts/graphs, and calculation-driven interfaces) with strong attention to detail and QA-mindedness.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-Have:
- Familiarity with user research methodologies and usability testing.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
What You’ll Gain
- Opportunity to shape real-world product experiences that make a difference.
- A collaborative, data-driven, and user-focused product team.
- Exposure to a fast-paced, iterative development environment that embraces AI.

Which companies sponsor visas for UX product designers in California?
Large tech employers in California with consistent sponsorship histories for UX product designer roles include Apple, Google, Meta, Adobe, Salesforce, Intuit, and Airbnb. Mid-size product companies and enterprise SaaS firms in the Bay Area and Los Angeles also file regularly. Sponsorship activity is most concentrated among companies with dedicated product design teams and established HR infrastructure for international hiring.
Which visa types are most common for UX product designer roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for UX product designers in California, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field. O-1A visas apply for designers with demonstrated recognition in the field. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may use the TN visa under the USMCA.
Which cities in California have the most UX product designer sponsorship jobs?
San Francisco and the broader Bay Area, including San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View, account for the largest share of UX product designer sponsorship jobs in California. Los Angeles is the second major hub, particularly for companies in entertainment technology, e-commerce, and consumer apps. San Diego has a smaller but growing presence, driven by biotech and defense-adjacent product companies.
How to find ux product designer visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify UX product designer roles in California where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. Rather than sifting through general job boards, you can search directly for California-based design roles from companies with sponsorship histories, saving significant time during a job search where immigration timelines matter.
Are there any California-specific considerations for UX product designers seeking visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements under H-1B rules are among the highest in the country, reflecting the state's elevated cost of living, particularly in the Bay Area. Employers must certify the offered wage meets Department of Labor prevailing wage levels for the specific location and role. Design programs at UC Berkeley, Stanford, and UCLA also feed strong local pipelines, which means competition for sponsored roles can be significant.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ux product designer jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
