Tips for Finding H-2B Sponsorship Jobs in Delaware
Target Sussex County resort employers early
H-2B employers in Sussex County begin the federal petition process months before the summer season opens. Reaching out to Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach hotels and resorts in late fall significantly improves your chances of being included in a filing.
Understand the H-2B cap and filing windows
H-2B visas are subject to a 66,000 annual cap split across two half-year periods. Delaware employers filing for summer season positions compete under the October 1 start-of-period window, so knowing these dates helps you time your applications correctly.
Focus on industries with consistent Delaware demand
Landscaping, groundskeeping, food service, and lodging consistently appear in Delaware H-2B filings. Concentrating your search on employers in these sectors, particularly those with established seasonal operations, increases your likelihood of finding active sponsorship.
Search for verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate's job board surfaces H-2B sponsorship roles directly, saving you time filtering through listings from employers who cannot or will not sponsor. Searching by Delaware and H-2B visa type narrows results to employers already engaged in the sponsorship process.
Check the Department of Labor disclosure data
The DOL OFLC Performance Data portal lists every certified H-2B labor condition application by state. Searching Delaware in this database reveals which specific employers have sponsored H-2B workers historically, giving you a verified list of companies worth approaching.
Be prepared to work with a staffing agency
Many Delaware H-2B workers are placed through staffing and recruitment agencies that hold the actual petition. Identifying agencies with active Delaware H-2B programs, particularly those serving the hospitality and landscaping sectors, can open roles not advertised by employers directly.

Which industries in Delaware sponsor the most H-2B visas?
Hospitality and lodging, food service, landscaping, and amusement and recreation services account for the majority of H-2B visa certifications in Delaware. Sussex County's coastal resort economy drives much of this activity, with hotels, restaurants, and outdoor recreation employers consistently filing seasonal petitions. Groundskeeping and housekeeping roles appear most frequently in the DOL disclosure data for the state.
Which cities in Delaware have the most H-2B sponsorship jobs?
The Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach area in Sussex County generates the highest concentration of H-2B activity in Delaware due to its summer resort economy. Wilmington sees some H-2B filings in food service and hospitality, and Dover has occasional seasonal demand. For most H-2B job seekers, Sussex County is where the greatest number of sponsoring employers are located.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in Delaware?
H-2B covers temporary nonagricultural work, so qualifying roles in Delaware tend to be positions with a clear seasonal or peak-load justification. Common examples include hotel housekeeping staff, front-of-house restaurant workers, landscaping laborers, groundskeepers, ride operators at amusement attractions, and general resort maintenance workers. The employer must demonstrate the need is temporary and that sufficient U.S. workers are unavailable.
How do I find H-2B jobs in Delaware that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate's job board lets you filter by visa type and state, making it straightforward to find Delaware employers actively sponsoring H-2B workers. You can also search the DOL OFLC disclosure database for certified H-2B applications filed by Delaware employers to identify companies with a history of sponsorship. Reaching out to staffing agencies that specialize in seasonal H-2B placements is another effective route, especially for hospitality and landscaping roles.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B jobs in Delaware?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
