Which companies sponsor visas for AI ML engineers in Kansas?
Garmin's Olathe headquarters is one of the most active sponsors for AI and ML engineering roles in Kansas, particularly for embedded intelligence and navigation systems work. Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in the Kansas City metro area has also sponsored international engineers for data science and ML positions. Smaller aerospace and agtech firms in Wichita occasionally sponsor for specialized machine learning roles, though at lower volume.
Which visa types are most common for AI ML engineering roles in Kansas?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for AI and ML engineers in Kansas, as these roles consistently qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field. Candidates with exceptional research records may also qualify for the O-1A. Employers in Kansas with established international hiring programs are more likely to have existing sponsorship infrastructure in place.
Which cities in Kansas have the most AI ML engineering sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro area, particularly the Overland Park and Olathe corridors in Johnson County, concentrates the majority of AI and ML engineering sponsorship activity in Kansas. Wichita has a smaller but active market, anchored by aerospace and manufacturing technology firms expanding into predictive analytics and automation. Lawrence occasionally surfaces roles connected to University of Kansas research partnerships and affiliated startups.
How to find ai ml engineering visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify AI and ML engineering roles in Kansas without manually screening each posting. You can search by role type and state to surface positions at Kansas employers who have an active sponsorship history. This is especially useful in a mid-sized market like Kansas, where sponsoring employers are fewer but do exist across tech, defense, and agtech sectors.
What state-specific factors should AI ML engineers know about working in Kansas?
Kansas employers sponsoring AI and ML engineers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific county where the work is performed, which can differ between the Kansas City metro and Wichita. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University produce graduate-level ML talent, creating local candidate pipelines that sometimes reduce employer urgency to sponsor internationally. Engineers with backgrounds in aerospace data systems, precision agriculture, or healthcare IT tend to find the most relevant employer matches in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ai ml engineering jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
