Which companies sponsor visas for bookkeepers in Kentucky?
Louisville-based healthcare systems, including Norton Healthcare and Baptist Health, along with large manufacturers such as Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky and Tempur-Pedic, have filed Labor Condition Applications for accounting and bookkeeping roles. Regional CPA firms and national staffing companies with Kentucky offices also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data as sponsors for bookkeeper positions.
Which visa types are most common for bookkeeper roles in Kentucky?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for bookkeeper roles in Kentucky when the position qualifies as a specialty occupation, typically requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. The TN visa is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals working in accounting-related roles. Some employers also support permanent residence through the EB-3 category for experienced bookkeepers.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most bookkeeper sponsorship jobs?
Louisville accounts for the largest share of bookkeeper sponsorship activity in Kentucky, driven by its concentration of healthcare systems, logistics companies, and corporate headquarters. Lexington is the second most active market, supported by the University of Kentucky, its affiliated medical center, and a growing professional services sector. Are there any Kentucky-specific considerations for bookkeepers seeking visa sponsorship?
Kentucky's prevailing wage requirements for sponsored bookkeeper roles are set by the Department of Labor based on local wage data for each metro area, so Louisville and Lexington listings will reflect those markets specifically. The University of Kentucky and University of Louisville both generate a pipeline of accounting graduates, which means local competition can be meaningful. Candidates with CPA progress or specialized industry experience in healthcare or manufacturing tend to stand out to Kentucky sponsors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored bookkeeper jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
