Which companies sponsor visas for embedded systems engineers in Massachusetts?
Major sponsors include Raytheon Technologies, Analog Devices, Boston Scientific, MathWorks, and iRobot, all of which have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for embedded systems roles. Defense contractors along the Route 128 corridor and medical device firms in the Greater Boston area represent the most active segments. Semiconductor companies with Massachusetts design centers, such as Analog Devices and Microchip Technology, also sponsor regularly.
Which visa types are most common for embedded systems engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for embedded systems engineers in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the engineer category. Australians may be eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and allows annual renewals.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most embedded systems engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge lead in volume, driven by the concentration of technology firms, defense contractors, and medical device companies in the area. Woburn, Waltham, and Lexington along the Route 128 technology corridor are also active, hosting offices for companies like Raytheon Technologies and Analog Devices. Lowell and Chelmsford have notable embedded systems activity tied to semiconductor and communications hardware firms.
How to find embedded systems engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find embedded systems engineer roles in Massachusetts without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by role and state to see current openings at companies that have a documented history of sponsoring engineers in Massachusetts, including defense, medical device, and semiconductor employers.
Are there state-specific or role-specific factors embedded systems engineers should know when targeting Massachusetts employers?
Massachusetts has a strong university pipeline through MIT, Northeastern, and UMass Lowell that employers actively recruit from, which can make competition for sponsored roles more intense at entry level. Defense-sector roles may require security clearance eligibility, which can affect visa sponsorship timelines and options for non-citizens. Medical device and semiconductor employers tend to have more established sponsorship processes given the specialized engineering talent they recruit internationally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored embedded systems engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
