Tips for Finding H-2A Sponsorship Jobs in Massachusetts
Map your credentials to H-2A job titles
Pull the O*NET profile for agricultural worker and grader/sorter occupations before applying. Massachusetts employers filing H-2A petitions must list specific job duties matching those codes, so aligning your experience to those descriptions strengthens your application.
Target Pioneer Valley farms directly
Hampden and Hampshire counties anchor Massachusetts H-2A filings, with tobacco, sod, and nursery operations regularly petitioning. Search DOL's public disclosure data by state and county to identify which Pioneer Valley employers filed LCAs in the past two seasons.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers with active H-2A filing history
Search Migrate Mate's job board to filter Massachusetts roles by H-2A sponsorship history. You'll see which nurseries, orchards, and greenhouse operations have filed DOL Labor Condition Applications recently, saving time on outreach to employers who have never sponsored.
Confirm the job order is posted before your start date
DOL requires H-2A employers to file a job order with the State Workforce Agency at least 60 days before the requested start date. Ask your prospective Massachusetts employer for the job order number so you can confirm the timeline aligns with your travel plans.

Which industries in Massachusetts sponsor the most H-2A visas?
Cranberry cultivation on Cape Cod and the South Shore, apple and tobacco farming in the Pioneer Valley, and nursery and greenhouse operations across Hampden and Hampshire counties account for the majority of H-2A filings in Massachusetts. Sod farming and Christmas tree operations also appear regularly in DOL disclosure data for the state.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most H-2A sponsorship jobs?
Northampton, Hadley, and Deerfield in the Connecticut River Valley see the highest concentration of H-2A job orders, driven by tobacco, sod, and vegetable operations. On the Cape, Dennis and Carver are the primary hubs for cranberry harvest crews. Berkshire County towns like Sheffield also appear in seasonal filings.
What types of roles typically qualify for H-2A sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Roles that qualify are temporary or seasonal agricultural positions tied to a defined harvest or growing cycle. In Massachusetts that includes cranberry harvest workers, tobacco cutters, nursery laborers, greenhouse graders and sorters, sod cutters, and general farm equipment operators. The work must be seasonal in nature and cannot be a year-round permanent position.
How do I find H-2A jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings by visa type and state, so you can surface Massachusetts employers with verified H-2A DOL filing history without manually sorting through disclosure spreadsheets. You can also review DOL's public H-2A job order database directly, which lists active Massachusetts job orders with employer contact details and start dates.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for H-2A sponsorship?
Massachusetts enforces its own wage and hour laws alongside federal H-2A prevailing wage requirements, and the state's housing inspections can add time to the employer's pre-filing preparation. The short harvest windows on Cape Cod cranberry bogs mean employers often file on tight timelines, so confirming your petition status with USCIS early helps avoid last-minute delays.
