Which companies sponsor visas for pharmaceutical jobs in Massachusetts?
Biogen, Moderna, Takeda, Pfizer, Sanofi, Bristol Myers Squibb, and AstraZeneca all have significant Massachusetts operations and documented H-1B sponsorship histories. Smaller biotech firms concentrated in Kendall Square and Waltham also sponsor regularly, particularly for research scientists, clinical data specialists, and regulatory affairs professionals. DOL LCA disclosure data is publicly available and shows Massachusetts pharmaceutical employers filing substantial numbers of petitions each year.
Which visa types are most common for pharmaceutical roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for pharmaceutical professionals in Massachusetts, covering roles like research scientist, clinical pharmacologist, biostatistician, and regulatory affairs specialist that require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific scientific field. The O-1A is an option for candidates with exceptional recognition in their field. Postdoctoral researchers often enter on J-1 exchange visitor visas, while some roles qualify under the TN category for Canadian and Mexican nationals.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most pharmaceutical sponsorship jobs?
Cambridge leads by a wide margin, particularly Kendall Square, which is home to some of the highest concentrations of pharmaceutical and biotech employers in the country. Boston, Waltham, Lexington, and Watertown also have dense clusters of life sciences employers along the Route 128 corridor. Worcester is an emerging hub, supported by the UMass Medical School ecosystem and several growing biotech companies based there.
How to find pharmaceutical visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters pharmaceutical job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse Massachusetts roles without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. The platform is designed for international candidates and surfaces positions from companies with active H-1B and O-1 sponsorship histories in the state. Searching by role type, such as research scientist or regulatory affairs, lets you narrow results to the pharmaceutical functions most relevant to your background.
Are there state-specific considerations for pharmaceutical sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts prevailing wage requirements apply through the H-1B Labor Condition Application process, and the Boston metro area generally falls into higher wage tiers given the cost of living. The state's deep university pipeline, including MIT, Harvard, Northeastern, and UMass, means employers are experienced with sponsoring foreign national graduates and postdocs into full-time roles. Massachusetts also has no state-level immigration restrictions affecting pharmaceutical employer sponsorship obligations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored pharmaceutical jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
