Which companies sponsor visas for trainees in New Hampshire?
Healthcare systems such as Dartmouth Health and Concord Hospital, defense and manufacturing firms including BAE Systems in Nashua, and technology companies in the Manchester area have historically sponsored international workers in trainee and entry-level roles. University-affiliated research institutions at UNH and Dartmouth College also support trainee placements with structured programs that meet sponsorship requirements.
Which visa types are most common for trainee roles in New Hampshire?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for trainee roles requiring a bachelor's degree in a specialty occupation such as engineering, IT, or healthcare. The J-1 visa Exchange Visitor visa is also used specifically for structured trainee and intern programs, administered through a designated sponsor organization. Some manufacturing and technical trainee roles may qualify under the H-1B or, for Canadian and Mexican nationals, the TN visa.
Which cities in New Hampshire have the most trainee sponsorship jobs?
Manchester and Nashua are the primary hubs, driven by their technology and defense manufacturing industries respectively. Concord, the state capital, offers trainee opportunities in healthcare and government-adjacent sectors. The Upper Valley region near Hanover supports trainee hiring through Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Health. These four areas account for the majority of structured trainee programs with documented sponsorship history in the state.
How to find trainee visa sponsorship jobs in New Hampshire?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find trainee visa sponsorship jobs in New Hampshire, as the platform filters specifically for roles where employers have confirmed sponsorship willingness. Searching by state and role type on Migrate Mate surfaces trainee positions in healthcare, engineering, and technology that generic job boards do not tag by sponsorship status. This saves significant time compared to researching employer H-1B or J-1 filing histories manually.
Are there state-specific factors that affect trainee visa sponsorship in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since take-home pay differs from neighboring states. Employers filing Labor Condition Applications must meet DOL prevailing wage requirements for the specific occupation and geographic area, which are calculated for New Hampshire separately from the Boston metro. Trainee roles tied to Dartmouth or UNH research programs may also have access to cap-exempt H-1B sponsorship through those institutions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored trainee jobs in New Hampshire?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
