INTRODUCTION
This is a hybrid position which will require a minimum of 2 days per week on site at the corporate Woodbury NY.
location (Long Island - Nassau county 11797).
Works for and under the general direction of the Manager of IT Systems Engineering. Responsible for assisting with establishing, managing and maintaining standards, monitoring, and operational performance of systems and hardware related to IT Engineering infrastructure and applications.
As a key member of this team, you will be instrumental in creating jobs for, and managing, the enterprise job scheduling platforms (e.g. ActiveBatch, Orchestrator) and providing top-notch engineering and operations support.
Responsibilities
In this role, you'll do more than just manage schedules. You'll be tasked with building IT automation solutions that elevate business environments.
- Turn routine IT tasks into sophisticated, real-time business service automation. You will play a pivotal role in helping the organization achieve the highest possible Return on Automation.
- The Analyst will be responsible for Batch server monitoring activities related to production control and coordination. This includes meticulous planning, scheduling, input/output control, job setup, and maintaining standards.
- Collaborate closely with Business, Application, IT Operations, Programming and Project Teams, providing expert guidance on setting up and managing batch job schedules.
- Create and maintain batch job schedules in our advanced Batch Job Scheduling tool, following directions from Application Teams.
- Translate application/project requests into actionable updates to batch job schedules ensuring seamless operations, encompassing tasks like adding/removing/updating job definitions, defining job dependencies, and setting success/failure criteria.
- Bring automation to batch job schedules, ensuring they run flawlessly at designated times and frequencies.
- Manage the migration of batch job schedules across various phases, from development to user acceptance test and production.
- Verify batch job schedules and job flow to match requested conditions/dates.
- Respond to urgent requests for assistance for job failures relating to bank lockboxes, critical functions and business reports.
- Provide immediate response to Delivery and/or Service tablet failures. Failures can be single-case or up to four production SQL databases.
- Have availability evenings and weekends if a critical batch job occurs. In most cases, waiting until our normal start time is not acceptable due to the 24/7 nature of our business.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with workload automation systems and scheduling platforms, including hands-on experience with batch job processing and scheduling job flows.
- Must have the ability to migrate standalone tasks into an automated schedule.
- Ability to review status logs for analysis, troubleshooting and remediation of scheduler or task issues.
- Must have a strong grasp of IT infrastructure and operating systems, including Linux and Windows Server operating systems and VMS Emulator administration.
- Ability to administer / create code in MS SQL, PowerShell, Bash, Java, Python and VB.NET.
- Detailed knowledge of command line, cron and task scheduler scripting ability is necessary.
- Must possess the ability to configure and manage operational tasks to fulfill business requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system incidents. Includes gathering empirical data and analysis to discover root causes and develop technical solutions.
- Ability to accurately log, ticket, and own/escalate incidents resulting from infrastructure events and provide accurate, timely and professional documentation on all supported issues.
- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for enterprise job scheduler application and schedules as well as ERP application for business operations.
- Develop and maintain operational runbooks, batch flow diagrams, and knowledgebase articles to ensure consistent support and rapid incident resolution.
- Evaluate services provided by vendors and recommend changes.
- Maintain strict adherence to security policies at all times.
- Industry certifications preferred.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or appropriate certifications from industry technical training program.
- 5+ years of relevant IT work experience managing mid-size or larger system environment.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to provide the “basic” explanation of technology for nontechnical managers, directors and above.
- Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required.
- Self-motivated and the ability to work under limited supervision.
- Industry technical certifications a plus.
- Demonstrate character, integrity and ethical values.
