Which companies sponsor visas for UX product designers in New York?
Large tech and financial services firms with New York offices are among the most consistent sponsors for UX product design roles. Google, Amazon, IBM, JPMorgan Chase, Spotify, and Salesforce have each filed H-1B petitions for UX and product design positions in New York. Fintech companies like Bloomberg and Betterment, along with advertising technology firms, also appear regularly in Department of Labor disclosure data for this role category.
Which visa types are most common for UX product design roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for UX product designers in New York. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation when the employer requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a field such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, or a closely related discipline. Australian citizens may also be eligible for the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals can explore the TN visa under the USMCA, though TN eligibility for design roles depends on specific job duties and employer requirements.
How to find ux product design visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters UX product design roles in New York by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving significant research time. Because not every job posting that welcomes sponsorship says so explicitly, using a platform like Migrate Mate that curates verified sponsorship opportunities is more reliable than general searches. Filtering by New York and UX product design on Migrate Mate surfaces roles at both established tech employers and growth-stage companies across Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Which cities in New York have the most UX product design sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the large majority of UX product design sponsorship activity in New York State, concentrated in the Flatiron District, Hudson Yards, and Midtown, where most large tech, finance, and media employers are based. Brooklyn, particularly the DUMBO and Williamsburg neighborhoods, has a growing cluster of design-forward startups and agencies that also sponsor. Outside New York City, opportunities drop off sharply, making the metro area the practical focus for most international UX designers.
Are there state-specific considerations for UX product design sponsorship in New York?
New York's density of universities, including NYU, Parsons School of Design, and Pratt Institute, creates a strong pipeline of international design graduates who often begin their sponsorship journey through OPT or STEM OPT extensions. Employers filing H-1B petitions in New York must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements specific to the New York City metropolitan area, which are among the higher wage thresholds nationally given the cost of labor in the region. This can influence which employers are willing to initiate sponsorship for junior versus senior roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ux product design jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
