Which companies sponsor visas for tax accountants in North Carolina?
Charlotte-based financial institutions like Bank of America and Wells Fargo have sponsored tax accountant roles, as have the Big Four firms (Deloitte, PwC, Ernst & Young, KPMG) with offices in Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham. Mid-size regional accounting firms and large corporations headquartered in the Research Triangle also appear in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data as sponsors for tax and accounting positions.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax accountants in North Carolina, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for the TN visa under the 'Accountant' category. Candidates already holding an L-1 visa or O-1 visa may also find employers willing to support those categories depending on qualifications.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte leads by a significant margin, driven by its concentration of financial institutions, corporate headquarters, and Big Four offices. Raleigh and Durham come second, supported by the Research Triangle's professional services sector and technology companies with accounting teams. Greensboro has a smaller but active presence, particularly through regional accounting firms and manufacturing-sector corporate tax roles.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify tax accountant roles in North Carolina where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. You can search by role and state to find positions in Charlotte, Raleigh, and other cities. Focusing on employers with a track record of LCA filings in accounting, such as Big Four firms and large financial institutions, improves your chances of a productive application.
Are there state-specific or role-specific considerations for tax accountants seeking sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina does not impose state-level licensing requirements specific to visa holders, but CPA licensure through the NC State Board of CPA Examiners is often expected for senior tax roles and can strengthen your candidacy. The Research Triangle's tech sector creates demand for tax accountants with international tax or transfer pricing experience. Employers sponsoring H-1B positions must pay the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the specific role and location.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
