Which companies sponsor visas for tax accountants in Georgia?
Large employers with established sponsorship histories include Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, all of which maintain significant Atlanta offices. Major corporations headquartered or with large finance operations in Georgia, such as Home Depot, Delta Air Lines, and UPS, also sponsor tax professionals. Public accounting firms consistently file more H-1B visa petitions for tax accountant roles than other employer types in the state.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for tax accountants in Georgia, as the role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may be eligible for the TN visa under the USMCA, which covers accountants specifically and does not require lottery selection.
Which cities in Georgia have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the overwhelming majority of tax accountant sponsorship activity in Georgia, driven by its concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, Big Four offices, and regional financial services firms. Alpharetta and Buckhead are notable secondary hubs, hosting corporate tax teams for technology and financial companies. Savannah has a smaller but growing professional services market tied to logistics and port-related industries.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter tax accountant roles by state, making it straightforward to identify Georgia employers actively open to sponsoring. Beyond filtering by location and role, you can assess employer sponsorship history to prioritize companies with a demonstrated track record of filing for tax and accounting positions in Atlanta and surrounding areas.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for tax accountants in Georgia?
Georgia does not impose state-level licensing barriers unique to international candidates, though a CPA license requires passing the Uniform CPA Exam regardless of nationality. Employers filing H-1B petitions for tax accountants in Georgia must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Atlanta or relevant metro area. Georgia's large university system, including Georgia Tech and Georgia State, also creates a pipeline of OPT candidates that employers in the state are experienced working with.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
