Which companies sponsor visas for tax accountants in Tennessee?
Large employers with established immigration infrastructure are the most consistent sponsors for tax accountant roles in Tennessee. HCA Healthcare in Nashville, FedEx in Memphis, and Eastman Chemical in Kingsport have all filed H-1B visa petitions for accounting and finance positions. Regional public accounting firms with national affiliations, such as LBMC and Kraft CPAs, also periodically sponsor qualified international candidates for tax roles.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B visa is the most common sponsorship pathway for tax accountants in Tennessee, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may be eligible for TN visa status under the USMCA, which covers accountants specifically and does not require an annual lottery.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
Nashville concentrates the largest share of tax accountant sponsorship opportunities in Tennessee, driven by its healthcare, entertainment, and financial services sectors. Memphis follows, supported by logistics companies and regional corporate headquarters. Knoxville and Chattanooga offer additional opportunities tied to manufacturing, energy, and university-adjacent employers, though the volume of sponsored roles in those markets is smaller.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles that offer visa sponsorship, making it straightforward to search for tax accountant positions in Tennessee without sorting through unsponsored postings. You can filter by location and role type to surface relevant opportunities across Nashville, Memphis, and other Tennessee markets. Employers listed on Migrate Mate have indicated willingness to sponsor, which saves significant time in your search.
Are there any state-specific considerations for tax accountants seeking sponsorship in Tennessee?
Tennessee has no state personal income tax on wages, which shapes the local tax practice environment. Tax accountants in Tennessee often specialize in federal corporate tax, sales and use tax, or multi-state compliance rather than individual state income work. Employers sponsoring H-1B petitions must pay the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the specific role and location, which is determined by the job duties and local wage data for the Nashville, Memphis, or Knoxville metropolitan areas.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
