Which companies sponsor visas for tax accountants in Massachusetts?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, all have significant Boston-area presences and established visa sponsorship programs for tax accountants. Large financial institutions like State Street and Fidelity Investments, as well as major healthcare organizations like Mass General Brigham, also sponsor tax accounting roles. These employers have dedicated immigration support teams and a track record of filing H-1B visa petitions for qualified candidates.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax accountants in Massachusetts, as the role typically meets the specialty occupation standard requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field. Candidates with a CPA credential and a relevant degree are well-positioned for H-1B sponsorship. F-1 students on OPT or STEM OPT working at eligible firms may also bridge to H-1B sponsorship through their employer.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
Boston is by far the primary hub, concentrating the majority of sponsored tax accountant positions through its financial services, professional services, and corporate headquarters sectors. Cambridge attracts demand tied to biotech and university-adjacent organizations. Worcester and Springfield have a smaller but steady presence, largely driven by regional healthcare systems and mid-size manufacturers with complex multi-state tax obligations.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters tax accountant roles in Massachusetts by visa sponsorship status, saving you from sifting through listings where sponsorship is unavailable. You can search by role, state, and visa type to surface employers actively hiring sponsored candidates. Given Boston's competitive accounting market, using a targeted tool like Migrate Mate helps focus your search on firms with a documented history of sponsoring tax roles.
Are there state-specific considerations for tax accountants seeking visa sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts employers must pay H-1B holders the prevailing wage for the Boston or relevant metropolitan area, which reflects the state's higher cost of living compared to national averages. The state's concentration of multinational corporations and research institutions creates strong demand for tax accountants with international tax or transfer pricing experience. CPA licensure in Massachusetts requires 150 credit hours, so candidates should verify their educational credentials meet state board requirements alongside their visa eligibility.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
