Which companies sponsor visas for tax accountants in New Jersey?
Large employers with significant New Jersey presences, including Prudential Financial, Johnson & Johnson, Cognizant, and Deloitte, have historically filed H-1B petitions for tax accountant roles. Regional public accounting firms and corporate tax departments at pharmaceutical and financial services companies in the state also sponsor regularly. DOL Labor Condition Application disclosure data is the most reliable way to verify which employers have filed for this occupation.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa for tax accountants in New Jersey, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose accounting credentials meet USMCA requirements. Some candidates also enter on L-1 visa transfers when moving within a multinational firm's global structure.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
Newark and Jersey City have the highest concentration of tax accountant sponsorship activity, driven by financial services firms, Big Four offices, and proximity to the New York City market. Parsippany and Florham Park attract corporate tax roles tied to pharmaceutical and technology company headquarters. Princeton also sees demand from research-oriented employers and mid-sized professional services firms operating in the central Jersey corridor.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search for tax accountant roles in New Jersey without sifting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. The platform aggregates postings from employers who have indicated willingness to sponsor, making it practical for international candidates targeting New Jersey's accounting and financial services sector rather than applying broadly and discovering late that sponsorship isn't on offer.
Are there state-specific considerations for tax accountants seeking sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey requires the H-1B prevailing wage to reflect the actual work location, so employers must file a Labor Condition Application tied to the specific New Jersey county where you'll work, not a national average. The state's proximity to New York City also means some employers headquartered in Manhattan sponsor roles performed at New Jersey satellite offices, which affects the LCA wage determination. CPA licensure requirements in New Jersey are separate from visa eligibility and typically require 150 credit hours.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
