Which companies sponsor visas for tax accountants in Arizona?
The Big Four accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG) maintain offices in Phoenix and Scottsdale and have established H-1B sponsorship programs for tax accountants. Large corporations headquartered or regionally based in Arizona, including Honeywell, Freeport-McMoRan, and Banner Health, also sponsor tax accounting roles. Regional accounting firms occasionally sponsor, though less consistently than national or multinational employers.
Which visa types are most common for tax accountant roles in Arizona?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for tax accountants in Arizona, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Candidates with CPA credentials or advanced degrees may also explore the O-1 visa for extraordinary ability, though that standard is significantly higher. Some employers also support TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying accounting credentials.
Which cities in Arizona have the most tax accountant sponsorship jobs?
The Phoenix metropolitan area, including Scottsdale, Tempe, and Chandler, concentrates the majority of tax accountant sponsorship opportunities in Arizona. This reflects the region's density of corporate headquarters, Big Four offices, and financial services firms. Tucson is a secondary market with a smaller but active accounting sector, partly supported by the University of Arizona's business graduate pipeline. Other Arizona cities have limited sponsorship activity for this role.
How to find tax accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Arizona?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship, so you can search for tax accountant roles in Arizona without manually screening out employers who don't sponsor. This is especially useful given that sponsorship willingness varies significantly between Arizona's large corporate employers and smaller regional firms. Narrowing your search to Phoenix, Scottsdale, or Tucson on Migrate Mate will surface the most active hiring markets for this role.
Are there any Arizona-specific considerations for tax accountants seeking visa sponsorship?
Arizona does not require a state-specific CPA license before employment begins, but employers filing H-1B petitions must pay the prevailing wage for the role and location as determined by the Department of Labor. The state's growing presence of corporate regional headquarters, particularly in the Phoenix metro, has expanded the pool of employers capable of sponsoring. Arizona State University and the University of Arizona also produce a steady stream of accounting graduates, meaning entry-level competition can be high for sponsored roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored tax accountant jobs in Arizona?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
